Summary: Let me start by saying that I've never had much luck with laptops. The last laptop I purchased before this (Dell) had a measly life of 1 year and 1 month, despite its $1000 price tag; it was defective to begin with, so within 10 minutes of using it, it literally died and could not be repaired. They had to send a replacement device, which itself died half a year after due to a faulty motherboard.
Summary: My advice: don't buy PC laptops in general - they are all c..p! Don't buy this particular laptop either. Now after using this laptop for a year and a half, its performance is worse than 284 processor. I don't have any bloatware or crapware, it's defragmented, protected, patched, updated and checked systematically. It is SLOW! I click once and wait for the simplest process forever. It's famous battery life has diminished considerably.

Summary: I bought this notebook for my wife in December 2010 because I heard Asus has the best quality among all the manufacturers. Unfortunately, this unit gave me much more trouble than any laptop/desktop I owned. I registered the ADW right after I received the delivery from Amazon. Usually I don't expect there is any issue based on my experience with several thinkpad laptops. However, the fan broke down and generated loud noise nobody can't tolerate last August.
Summary: Have had this laptop for around 8 months now; battery life is good, screen resolution is above average, and performance is decent. Some specific positives/negatives: + variable performance settings + size/weight is very good + build quality is solid + nice keyboard layout and action - viewing angle for the screen is not good - high-pitched noise is noticeable when in a quiet environment - asus installed utilities are a pain (e.g.
Summary: Please dont buy this. Waste of money. Battery life shows 9.5 hours but actually not. In 4 months, the battery life reduced to 6-7 Hours. WIFI: Horrible. Its getting disconnected frequently and it doesn't catch the signal from my living room. My 3 year old phone HTC touch cruise has better WIFI signal than this. I have sold this product in ebay.
Summary: Really great computer. I'm someone who buys a new computer every 4 years or so. I run them into the ground, so upgrading from my 80GB Windows XP laptop made quite the difference. Purchased in December 2010, so I'm writing this review now that I feel I have adequate usage under my belt.
Summary: This would be my third laptop. The 7 inch Dell I got 2 years back is excluded from being called a laptop. The first was a cOmpaq and the second was a Dell. The Compaq those slow is still alive but lives with a friend of mine and communicates in XP, the Dell lives in my bedroom and has lasted me 3 strong years, I quickly got rid of Vista when 7 came out. Like everyone else I wanted to try something new.
Summary: I bought this ASUS Laptop in Feb 2011. Reviews were good and the price was right. However, I regret the decision to buy ASUS. Problems - Battery life is not as promised. Battery runs out in about 3.5 hours during normal use The cursor jumps around on the screen while editing a document. Really annoying! I am trying to look for help on Asus website and other online posts. Hopefully, there is some solution for the cursor issue.
Summary: I bought this computer a week ago from Amazon to replace a two year old ASUS netbook that was just too small and too slow. This is a very good machine. The processor speed is very good, and the screen size works well for a travel laptop. Other reviewers who have complained about the screen viewing angle have a valid point, but it is easy to adjust the viewing angle to get a fine, clear picture, and a computer this size is not designed for group viewing.
Summary: Was looking for a replacement for my 5 year old lappy and settled on this one after a very thorough research. I use this for web development, browsing, watching movies, etc, and it handles everything pretty well. It's a very capable machine. I installed ubuntu on it without problems. issues for me: - touchpad is a bit weird, could have been better. - battery life ~3 hours. This could have been a perfect ultraportable if it had a core i5 processor + ssd.
