Excerpt: The Asus u30jc is an impressive laptop. It uses the newer generation of core i3 (or i5 depending which version you buy), and has a plethora of features. One of those features is a dual graphic card (onboard and ATI) which can be switch during realtime, so that when using normally that doesn't need to be graphic intensive can be done on the onboard card, and when the user needs to play games that requires more power can be done through the actual graphics card.
Excerpt: This computer is very fast and accurate. They are often used as a gaming computer so they have to be fast and powerful. When you press the power button it powers up really quickly. The internet is very fast because of this computer and so is every other program whether it is a very big program or not. Every program starts up in a flash and works smooth. The computer is nice and light-weight. It has a good mouse pad, good keys, and good sound.
Excerpt: I got this for my gf. She is sort of a computer noobie. Therefore, she doesnt need a powerhouse computer. But, I didnt want to get her something that wouldnt be able to handle all the hd media out there. Enter the asus u30jc. It has a core i3 processor coupled with dynamically switching gfx card to give an added performance boost to play media. In terms of the form factor, it is quite portable. Id say its somewhere in between an ultra-portable and a workplace laptop.
Summary: Purpose of the Computer General purpose activities such as browsing, word processing, reading emails, college work, occasional game, or occasional software development. Some Defects: I have owned this laptop for a year and a quarter. (Laptop was manufactured in August of 2010) Overall the laptop has performed well, but there are some problems and some design defects.
Summary: I have had this computer for about 6 months now. When I was looking at laptops, I had several ideas of what I wanted. I wanted *12.1" to 14.0" screen *practical, sturdy construction *better than average battery life *enough performance to do anything I want to do I found all of that with this computer. The body of the unit is a blend of plastic and aluminum, giving it sharp looks and a good solid feel to it.
Summary: This computer was a dud, and maybe it was just the specific Asus that I received, but the startup and shut down took up to 10 minutes, the battery life was less than FIVE hours (advertised between 7-9, depending on reviews). I had it for a few days before sending it back. There were so many pop-up programs and they all slowed down the computer like crazy. On the very first day of use, it froze and had to be shut down TWICE. Overall, a very poor machine.
Summary: Likes: Nvidea Optimus graphc card(s) let you switch between a discreet graphic card for gaming and computer aided drafting, awesome movies and a lower power graphic card (something call intel graphics media accelrator) Battery life last me bout 3 to 4 hours for intense gaming and movie watching. Portable(enough said) Good screen resolution and color. High speed CPU makes calculation programs solving through programs like beast. Dislikes: Mousepad.
Summary: I don't like this system. i bought it 6 months ago and very next month my mouse pad was lose. i tried calling them but no one ever pick up then i found out they have no customer service in USA. Either you will be calling all day no one pick up or they just hang up on you.
Summary: I've been using the laptop for nearly a month and have been very impressed with the balance of performance, battery life, size, and weight. It runs all my applications without trouble. I use it primarily as a website development machine. I can have my entire XAMPP development environment loaded, including Eclipse, MySQL, Apache, and Photoshop without it slowing down at all. The keyboard and trackpad are easy to use and the screen is great.
