Summary: If you plan to install a different OS, be aware that the SSD drive probably will not be large enough. Win 7 is simply too big even if you do a custom install and move things like the Users folders onto the other drive at install time. They still come in handy however, for installing something like the Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc...). They do run nicely on the SSD compared to a normal HDD install.
Pros: Low ASUS price with their usual great quality. There certainly is nothing fancy about these units, but they do the job of daily office work wonderfully.
Summary: Only use the notebook for about 30 days, while towards upgrade and then reboot and gave no sign of life. Only one LED lights up, try to start the hard disk and then stops. Now try changing the RAM, the hard disk and even the bios battery without any improvement. In short I was cheated. I am very desepcionado and regretted Amanzon bought for my notebook. Had placed my trust and now I have no money to buy back again.
Summary: I have had other Asus laptops and they are good. But I am not impressed with this particular model. The shape is awkward, it is not necessary to make it that big, it is a15.6 inch, but the whole size is bigger than a 17 inch laptop, the keys are not very responsive, the hard drive is a cheap brand and very slow, The 24GB SSD can only function as a hibernate re-start, but any Windows 8 hibernate re-start is fast, you don't need a SSD.
Summary: I love my ASUS Ultrabook. I've had it for about 2 months. It's lightweight with a large screen and I love that it features a DVD/CD drive, unlike a lot of computers nowadays. I'm not a fan of Windows 8 but I blame Microsoft more than I do ASUS for that...I'd recommend this to anyone who needs an everyday notebook.
Summary: The laptop I bought was advertised as new but missing power supply. Mouse pad did not function and mfg warranty was a already 6 months old meaning that the item was sold to another person initially and not new. Seller did not want to accept return of faulty item. I will not buy or recommend this seller to anyone. ASUS replaced the faulty mouse pad and turn around was slow.,it has a one-piece mouse that does not select and scroll well.
Summary: this is a great laptop...im a programmer and it runs all my software smoothly...still abit to slow for me personally...will soon upgrade the ram and processor...but its a great laptop altogether for an aspiring power user and students...
