Review Asus G73JH (ATI HD 5870) Gaming Notebook

Notebookcheck
30 August 2010
  • Conclusion: Asus has created a surprisingly good gaming notebook in the G73, one that stands apart from its G71 and G72 predecessors in many respects. The futuristic design along with the stylish keyboard backlighting should attract admiring glances. Matt surfaces and good workmanship also give the G73 a high-quality appearance. A generously sized touchpad and impressive sound quality are further strengths of this 17.3-inch gaming notebook.
  • Pros: Attractive design, Matt surfaces, Good workmanship, Operates quietly, Remains cool, Bright display with vivid colours, Large touchpad, Keyboard backlighting, Very good application performance, Excellent gaming performance, Impressive sound quality, The gaming performance can be classed as 'very good' thanks to the Radeon HD 5870. Almost every modern game can be played smoothly in the native resolution, with high detail settings and with visual enhancements (AA and AF)...
  • Cons: No eSATA, Firewire or ExpressCard slot, Reflective screen with limited viewing angles, High black level and poor contrast ratio, Spongy keyboard which flexes slightly

ASUS G73JH gaming notebook review

HEXUS
28 July 2010
  • Conclusion: Available for just under £1,650, ASUS's G73JH notebook isn't cheap, but you do get a lot of bang for your buck. The ability to run the latest games with little sacrifices in image quality is a huge boon, and ASUS's Republic of Gamers bundle - which includes a gaming mouse, a SteelSeries Siberia headset and a RoG backpack - makes it a complete mobile gaming solution.
