Summary: It's a really good laptop. I've had mine for about 2 years and there have been no significant issues that left it unusable. Although, one problem is the audio port for headphones. Sometimes I would plug in my headphones and the sound would come through both the speakers and headphones.
Summary: I have had this computer for about a year or so. I keep it on a TV tray beside my recliner. Needless to say it gets much more use than my desktop unit...lol. Basically I use it to surf the web and check email. I'm sure it is capable of much more demanding tasks with the I5 processor and Windows 8.
Pros: when i started to look for a pc i soon relized that i would need something portable yet powerful. this option soon stuck out from the rest. this device gives an exelent balance between speed, reliability, and price. i can use it for high quality games one minite and then use it casualy the next. ...
Cons: power suply gets hot very quickly and bat has something to be desired
I am well pleased with my ASUS R704A.The 17.3" screen is terrific and the machine is fast with the basic 4GB memory!

Summary: A back-lit keyboard would have been nice, but this is a fast and cool running piece of hardware. I've used it about 4 months and am very pleased. I asked two sales techs and the service manager at Micro Center which brand had the fewest returns. They all independently said Asus.
Summary: Got this for a great price and has everything BUT the backlit keyboard that was on the page was incorrect. Although this was a major let down the price for an i5, 17.3", with 4GB of RAM was still a great price. I had done research on this laptop before buying it and knoew that was a possibility.
Summary: The customer service with the company was stellar. The return was smooth, our credit was instant. The description stated this laptop had a back-lit keyboard. The was a must for us. Sadly the description was wrong; it did not have a back-lit keyboard so we returned it.
Summary: I regularly shop on Amazon.com because of the convenience, the reviews and the customer service. The experience was not a positive experience customer service wise. Initially based on the specs and the price I was really impressed.
Summary: My mother bought this laptop for me for Christmas. Just in time, too; my old Dell lappy was about ready to give up the ghost. It took some getting used to, but I'm really beginning to like it now. The touchpad in particular gave me some trouble in the beginning.
Pros: - Light weight. - cool to the touch. - decent computing power. - came with Windows 7 in an age where everyone is forcing 8 on us. - Blu-Ray drive, so I can watch The Avengers.
Cons: - Screen is a little high on the color temperature. That means everything has a blue tint to it. I adjusted the tri-color Gamma, and that balanced it out for the most part. - does not come with OS disk. You have to make your own system restore disks, although Asus made that a relatively painless ...
Summary: Bought elsewhere and it's been unopened until the RAM expansion was resolved.
Pros: Can expand the RAM to 8GB. Finding reliable, consisten information on the R704A, esp regarding if the memory can be expanded has been challenging. The Asus site finally has a small bit of info, and it appears this is a variant of the X75A series, which is well documented. Newegg and F* say 8GB is ...
