Summary: Pro: Speed is ok Large screen Nice large harddrive Sound is good Like that it came with 6GB of memory, but would prefer 8GB. Liked that it had one USB 3.0 wish of them where 3.0 Cons: If you run in turbo mode all the time the machine will shutdown I still do not like the keyboard after almost 1 year. ASUS will void warranty if you upgrade the memory yourself.
Summary: I ordered this from Amazon and the first one they sent me was DOA I told them about my problem and I had one the next day before class. I did add SSD (solid state drive)and added 3 sticks of 1333 4GB RAM to help out the i7. This notebook now beat down my classmates Alienware notebook (his M15x is not stock)and another classmate went out and bought a similar model with the next generation i7 due to the show of power this beast has displayed
Summary: I couldn't afford an Apple. I couldn't swallow paying $2400 for a laptop. That's a car down payment. I also wanted to stay away from Windows. A lot of virus attacks and too many updates. ASUS appeared to be the Rising Star of the computer world! Frankly, I couldn't pass on the laptop offer. An i7, 6 GB RAM, 640 GB Memory, Bluetooth, Blue-Ray, 17.3 inch screen. NVDIA GT425 Graphics Card. And $200 rebate all for under $1300.00 Not to mention a 2-year Warranty.
Summary: I love this laptop. I spent about a month searching for a laptop and finally settled on this one due to specs and reviews. The main complaint that I read about is the keyboard. While it does seem a little flimsy, it's still nice and I only use it when I'm on the road anyways. At home and the office I use a full size keyboard so no biggie. I currently run everything I want on the laptop with no slowdowns. I run all my office software, VPN's, quicken, etc.
Summary: overall... i very much like this laptop. i have never seen such a large portable device. the screen closes without a heavy "thud." the hinges are sturdy. pro - the screen is huge. the letters are crisp and the picture is clear. i love the mouse touch features. just like the iphone... i can enlarge or minimize the letters on the screen. two fingers command the scroll keys. my fingers can swipe to back up to a previous page.
Summary: Acontius' revieiw is pretty spot on. THe sound is good for a laptop , but they do play it up a bit more than it really is. THe battery life is poor , its really only for a backup power supply. I get about 1 hour streaming a video off the net using the wifi. Its really not too much of an issue for me as I am almost always plugged in. Performance is excellent , especially after turning off all the windows 7 gee gaw features.
Do not know which is worse, the computer or the customer support.

Summary: Let me start by saying that I went out of my way (and pocket) to buy this computer. Its specs were just awesome. It seemed a bit more expensive than the competition but I decided to go for ASUS QUALITY. What a mistake that was...!! Creating AI-Recovery DVDs wasted about 15 DVDs for me as the process would get stuck at one or the other point. The unit had its first BSOD within 2 days of light use, and more of them kept on happening intermittently.
Summary: It was a gift , but from the first few uses , seems a well built and mid-hy tech lt , it lacks 1 star - major major , bug , it has major issues with the blue ray (software side) - how it passed QC is a mystery but i`have seen worse .
