Summary: I have owned this laptop for roughly a year having given it quite a bit of use on a few occasions. It handles everything I need it to do from Office, to internet surfing, to video chatting, to gaming. The display is quite nice being full HD and is very well lit. The keyboard is a keyboard. it is backlit; however, I have not used that function yet. My only 'beef' is with the touchpad on this thing.
Summary: My previous laptop was by no means a slow laptop. It was a Dell 17" with an i7-920 processor, Radeon HD4650 video card and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. This laptop blows it out of the water. Now I do have to stress that I replaced the included HDD with Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST750LX003 since having a 5200 RPM HDD paired up with all the other excellent hardware in this laptop seemed like a crime.
Summary: I had been working with a Dell D420 laptop for the last 5 or so years before it started crapping out on me. I record music and that computer just couldn't keep up. Besides the fact that this computer produces quality processing power it also has a million other positive things going for it. I love that it has a Blu-ray player (which can be used to rip BLU-RAYs with the right software) and the sound is AMAZING!!!
Summary: Right off the bat I'll say that this computer has great specs, especially for the price. Great sound quality, and a beautiful screen. This wasn't built with high-end gaming in mind, but it can hold its own with just about every game out there, albeit some of them not on their highest settings.
Summary: After much research I purchased this laptop and I could not be more satisfied with the ASUS N56VZ. The display and the sound are jaw droppingly awesome. I spend most of my time just staring at the screen and sampling music from spotify right now. The very first thing I did upon purchase was switch the hard drive out for a 256 SSD. While I cannot comment on the speed with the regular hard drive, I can now boot up windows in 12 seconds. This thing is a beast.
Summary: PROS No dead or bright pixels. The LCD panel is gorgeous with a very wide viewing angle. I'd prefer a thinner bezel but not a big deal. Keyboard is tight and responsive, easily the best I've ever used. Backlit and full number pad is great. Touchpad is large. Buttons are built into the pad with single click all over, and left/right built into the bottom of the pad. The 2 and 3 finger swipe gestures are simply superb.
