Summary: I have owned this laptop for roughly a year having given it quite a bit of use on a few occasions. It handles everything I need it to do from Office, to internet surfing, to video chatting, to gaming. The display is quite nice being full HD and is very well lit. The keyboard is a keyboard. it is backlit; however, I have not used that function yet. My only 'beef' is with the touchpad on this thing.
Summary: After a month of using this laptop, I have a lot of great things to say about it. For starters, everything seems solidly built and stable. I have not had issues with crashes, overheating, or construction defects yet. The screen is gorgeous, with great viewing angles and a nice mate finish that is very clear even in in sunlight. The keyboard is decent, and the touch pad is good as well, once you get used to it.
Summary: I've had 1 other Asus laptop (M50VZ) that still runs despite being 5 years old, it's slow but works. As a trusted brand I have recommended it to multiple people throughout the years and Asus have never failed me. I am very picky about computers and do a lot of research. I even considered Samsung or Sager, but I'm glad I went with the N56VZ. This laptop brings the best value for your money. Highlights: great graphics card (Maxed out Starcraft 2 without any slowdowns).
Summary: My previous laptop was by no means a slow laptop. It was a Dell 17" with an i7-920 processor, Radeon HD4650 video card and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. This laptop blows it out of the water. Now I do have to stress that I replaced the included HDD with Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST750LX003 since having a 5200 RPM HDD paired up with all the other excellent hardware in this laptop seemed like a crime.
A solid laptop for movies, music and more importantly gaming.

Summary: Don't bother paying extra for a "gamer brand", especially if you want a laptop you can carry around without fear of being mugged. The discrete design makes it look "random and safe" while being made in quality materials so it doesn't look "cheap" either. Component wise it's a solid gaming laptop, not much to say on this side, you'll be able to play recent games with no issue even if you're not at home.
