Summary: Ordered the Asus laptop on 9/9/12. It was fast and worked fine. The only thing I didn't like is that it was alot bigger than I thought a 15" would be and it's heavy. On 11/8 I was even bragging to co-workers how great and inexpensive it was and then the next morning I went to turn it on and the keyboard lit up and the Asus logo came on the screen and then it went black.
Summary: I had to return this laptop three different times for replacements for numerous problems. I am extremely disappointed in this laptop as it has amazing specs for the price but has way too many defects. 3/3 laptops with defects? Not very good statistics. I WILL note that Amazon was excellent in returning and shipping out the replacement laptops.
Summary: I purchased this laptop 3 weeks ago. Upon arrival I noticed that it was making vey unusual sounds while playing videos, listening to music, etc.... I contacted ASUS Customer Support and they asked that I reinstall the audio and video drivers. I did this and again it was still having problems. They then provided me with an RMA number and it was sent in to the ASUS Repair Center.
Summary: Computer wouldn't boot up past initial setup. Tried playing with different setting & using the recovery disk, nothing worked. Called Asus, went through troubleshooting. CSR said I could RMA (it would take 2 weeks) or I could return it to the Retailer. I really like the specs & design, but Asus quality control apparently thinks it's ok to ship Refurbished Laptops to new customers. I won't be able to recommend them to anyone, ever!! Going to order the Dell 15R Inspiron SE.
Summary: My son really loved this laptop. It was big and heavy but quite powerful. He could play his games without problems. However after 2 weeks it suddenly wouldn't boot. I tried booting from a repair CD, from a USB stick with linux. I kept getting boot sequence error. Asus support said it was hardware fault and sent me a mailing label. However, I decided to return it to Amazon and buy a different laptop. Maybe it was just a fluke, but it shouldn't happen.
Summary: I was hoping to give a good review for this laptop since it seemed to be a real nice computer. I opened the poorly packaged box which was just a bit larger than the Asus box itself and plugged it in. On first boot I heard a few weird noises coming from under the hood, but thought nothing of it. The process to get to the "Starting Windows" screen took longer than I anticipated and the animated logo was hesitating and skipping. I wrote it off as a normal first-time thing.
Summary: ATTENTION PEOPLE DO NOT BUY ASUS NOTEBOOK THEY ARE A RIP OFF COMPANY, THEY AN ISSUE WIITH WINDOWS 8 AND KEEP SELLING IT UNTIL U WILL LOOSE ALL DATA AND THEY WILL TRY TO CHARGE YOU LOADS OF MONEY OR ASK YOU TO BUY RECOVERY MEDIA WHICH IS 40 POUNDS PLUS. ALSO STAFF IS RUDE AT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WILL BLAME MICROSOFT FOR WINDOWS 8 WHICH THEY PUT ON THEMSELVES ON THEIR MACHINES AND THEN NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILTY AND NOT LETTING CUSTOMERS KNOW TO BACKUP DATA.

Summary: I purchased one model a few weeks ago from one supplier but it was returned as the ATK0100 driver was not loaded, internet kept crashing and there was loud sound and image distortions (buzzing and freezing) when watching bbc iplayer and itv. Bought the same laptop a couple of days ago through another supplier but found exactly the same issues.
