Summary: I purchased this computer for its processor and RAM, but the resolution is the feature I am most impressed with. I can read even the tiniest print at low illumination. I never thought I would be influenced by resolution, but truly this computer is a joy to work on. For those of you old enough to remember, it is like going from B & W tv to color. I use the computer mainly for photo manipulation and Sketchup - very fast once the bloatware is removed.
Summary: I have been very pleased so far with this laptop. I received it a week ago and have been extremely satisfied. The packaging seemed a bit lacking to me, so I hoped the delivery companies handled it carefully. The computer has been working great Several reviewers complained about the track pad, but i have had no issues with it and actually like it very much. If people are unsatisfied with it its very easy to disable it and just use a mouse (function f9 to disable it).
Summary: The first unit came and the keyboard was not working correctly. I emailed Asus about warranty repair (because you're not supposed to return a defective product unless it's DOA). Anyway, first email said I needed to mail it back to Asus in California but it didn't include a shipping label. I tried to reply to the email (it's not as easy as hitting reply bec you have to use their website to reply) but it was down that day - servers were busy. The second day, same thing.
I like it. So far, so good. I have Win7 N56VM model takes 16GB RAM!

Summary: I bought this laptop intending to replace my 6 month old 15" Chronos Samsung. (Which is smaller, more compact, lighter, and has a great screen.) But I want the Ivy Bridge processor this machine has, and the 1080P screen, which I just love because it is matt finish and perfect looking. In fact, this ASUS laptop has a nicer screen than any other laptop I have ever seen; for me it's better than the MBP 15 screen, since it's a landscape aspect ration to go with HDTV.
Summary: Ordered the Asus laptop on 9/9/12. It was fast and worked fine. The only thing I didn't like is that it was alot bigger than I thought a 15" would be and it's heavy. On 11/8 I was even bragging to co-workers how great and inexpensive it was and then the next morning I went to turn it on and the keyboard lit up and the Asus logo came on the screen and then it went black.
Summary: I spent a lot of time searching for this machine. Well, okay, I spent 5 hours one night waiting for my paycheck to clear. I investigated a lot of different machines, including the higher-end Asus gamer rigs, and I settled on this one. Including tax I spent about $450 less than I would have on one of those boxes, and I'm happy with my purchase so far. So let's get into the review. The good: The screen is really good, but it's not as good as my Vaio from several years ago.
Summary: I had to return this laptop three different times for replacements for numerous problems. I am extremely disappointed in this laptop as it has amazing specs for the price but has way too many defects. 3/3 laptops with defects? Not very good statistics. I WILL note that Amazon was excellent in returning and shipping out the replacement laptops.
Summary: I purchased this laptop 3 weeks ago. Upon arrival I noticed that it was making vey unusual sounds while playing videos, listening to music, etc.... I contacted ASUS Customer Support and they asked that I reinstall the audio and video drivers. I did this and again it was still having problems. They then provided me with an RMA number and it was sent in to the ASUS Repair Center.
Summary: My son really loved this laptop. It was big and heavy but quite powerful. He could play his games without problems. However after 2 weeks it suddenly wouldn't boot. I tried booting from a repair CD, from a USB stick with linux. I kept getting boot sequence error. Asus support said it was hardware fault and sent me a mailing label. However, I decided to return it to Amazon and buy a different laptop. Maybe it was just a fluke, but it shouldn't happen.
