Summary: This is my first review ever and I do not take lightly leaving a negative one, but while I like the features of the N56VM very much, before you purchase an ASUS laptop you should know just how bad their customer service is. My experience with the company has culminated in my being without the machine at the critical moment and having to spend an extra $400 to buy a hasty replacement, not to mention wasted hours on the phone and a lot of stress.
Exceptional computer and seamless upgrade to Windows 8!

Summary: This laptop is loaded with good memory and the Intel I7. I am not a gamer, I am a professor who teaches online courses. I work with various course management systems, such as Blackboard, and I use primarily the Microsoft Office software suite. I have been using Microsoft to capture and distribute short training videos. I use a Buddy headset that does a great job capturing my voice without outside noises.
Summary: I purchased this computer for its processor and RAM, but the resolution is the feature I am most impressed with. I can read even the tiniest print at low illumination. I never thought I would be influenced by resolution, but truly this computer is a joy to work on. For those of you old enough to remember, it is like going from B & W tv to color. I use the computer mainly for photo manipulation and Sketchup - very fast once the bloatware is removed.
Summary: I have been very pleased so far with this laptop. I received it a week ago and have been extremely satisfied. The packaging seemed a bit lacking to me, so I hoped the delivery companies handled it carefully. The computer has been working great Several reviewers complained about the track pad, but i have had no issues with it and actually like it very much. If people are unsatisfied with it its very easy to disable it and just use a mouse (function f9 to disable it).
Summary: The first unit came and the keyboard was not working correctly. I emailed Asus about warranty repair (because you're not supposed to return a defective product unless it's DOA). Anyway, first email said I needed to mail it back to Asus in California but it didn't include a shipping label. I tried to reply to the email (it's not as easy as hitting reply bec you have to use their website to reply) but it was down that day - servers were busy. The second day, same thing.
Summary: Bought this laptop in early December of 2012. I've played with it for about a week. It is very fast, great screen, great audio(extra sub woofer is great but awkward). I easily put in 2- 8 gig rams (Corsair 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 SODIMM Memory Kit (CMSO16GX3M2A1333C9)). The touch pad can be easily turned off Function F9. There is a lot of bloatware. I just uninstall most of it. People say it is a copy of a Mac. Yep, this is a poor man's Mac. Whatever.
Summary: Let me tell you a small story..before buying asus n56vm laptop on 11/28/2012 ,I bought 15" Mac book pro without retina for $1800..second day I was facing hardware problem with 15" Mac book pro model.so returned it.. If you what to know about the mac book pro problem (google for "squeaky noise in mac book pro" ) .Then I found asus is fair enough for me, later I realized apple is not the best laptop maker.. Pros - 1.
I like it. So far, so good. I have Win7 N56VM model takes 16GB RAM!

Summary: I bought this laptop intending to replace my 6 month old 15" Chronos Samsung. (Which is smaller, more compact, lighter, and has a great screen.) But I want the Ivy Bridge processor this machine has, and the 1080P screen, which I just love because it is matt finish and perfect looking. In fact, this ASUS laptop has a nicer screen than any other laptop I have ever seen; for me it's better than the MBP 15 screen, since it's a landscape aspect ration to go with HDTV.
Summary: Ordered the Asus laptop on 9/9/12. It was fast and worked fine. The only thing I didn't like is that it was alot bigger than I thought a 15" would be and it's heavy. On 11/8 I was even bragging to co-workers how great and inexpensive it was and then the next morning I went to turn it on and the keyboard lit up and the Asus logo came on the screen and then it went black.
