Summary: This seller should be banned from Amazon. The goods were fraudulent. Their ad said the laptop was turned on once and returned when in fact it was scratched very badly on the cover and bottom of the unit. All the USB ports were oxidized which proves the laptop had been used for months.
Summary: I took a long time to make this assessment because I wanted to be sure that my dislike of windows 8 did not affect my judgement of the computer overall. However my verdict is in and I officially think this computer is junk. I have had the computer and used it every day for about 10 months now.
Summary: Nice laptop with beautiful design, but worst hard drive quality in all of the laptops I owned in the past 10 years. Hard drive was dead in 6 months and sent it back to the service center. The new hard drive was dead again yesterday (less than 4 months). Very disappointed about ASUS brand.
Summary: The only way to verify certain specifications (such as screen resolution, in my case) is to open the box and turn on the notebook. This can make getting a full refund from the place of purchase more difficult.
Pros: From other reviews, it seems like a good notebook, if you get one with the specifications ASUS claims.
Cons: I've had an N56VJ notebook for over a month now, sitting unused. That's because the only way to verify specifications is to contact ASUS sales (the website lists *possible* specifications, there are many sub-models). I needed the screen resolution to match my desktop monitor, so I could connect t...
Broke after a year and then again after a year and a half
8 June 2013
Summary: This computer started out great and dreamy but after a year, the entry point for the charger burned and the laptop couldn't be charged. Sent it to the company because it was still under warranty and they fixed. BUT, two months later the problem reappeared and by then the laptop had no warranty.
Summary: Well, I spent a few days looking for a decent laptop to replace my old and great Toshiba Satellite A665-S6056. Toshiba laptops had great specs but somehow didn't convince me. I bought this ASUS laptop based on my experience with the ASUS transformer pad which works great, thought this was going to...
Pros: The computer itself is nice tech but that's it.
Cons: Not a lot I can say without breaking guidelines apparently but I advise anyone looking at this computer to overlook it. This computer only comes with windows 8 and you CAN NOT downgrade to the superior versions.
Summary: Computer wouldn't boot up past initial setup. Tried playing with different setting & using the recovery disk, nothing worked. Called Asus, went through troubleshooting. CSR said I could RMA (it would take 2 weeks) or I could return it to the Retailer.
