Great Price - Keyboard Issues though

timm74, Newegg
29 May 2014
  • Pros: Price was fantastic and the machine runs very well on the Windows 8 platform. Was able to handle multiple applications seamlessly
  • Cons: Certain keys on the keyboard have stopped working (C and R) which I find quite random. Have heard zero from ASUS support about options to repair so using workarounds for now

Purchased 7 months ago and already showing signs of electrical problems

Ally T., Amazon
11 November 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this 7 months ago directly from Amazon. There were a few pros like the Icecool and Quick Startup feature but the negatives are adding up. I was getting used to the Windows 8 and sensitive touch pad and I tried to ignore some of the unexpected slowness issues or long periods it needed to restart after freezing when randomly when running an update.

Was great until....

N/A, Newegg
10 September 2013
  • Pros: Great computer for a budget laptop. Brilliant screen, fast enough for day to day stuff. perfect condition for refurb
  • Cons: After taking all the updates and setting it up how I wanted and playing with it for a while, I started getting flags to enter a valid windows product key. No sticker on computer, no disc wiih license comes with it. Product code entered in from factory comes up as being "blocked." Call Asus and they say send it in. Really? after 6 hours of playing with it, updating and setting it up for me they won't give a product key to me to make it right, they would rather send it ...

Black screen all the time; cursor jumps around

Rebecca Richmeier, Amazon
8 September 2013
  • Summary: I rarely write reviews but this laptop as been a huge disappointment. My main problem is that the screen blacks out. Moving the mouse and attempting to restart the laptop don't work. I have to remove the battery for a few minutes and then restart. It's very inconvenient when you're using it for recipes online and you can't proceed because you're waiting on the battery and restart. I have to do this at least once a week. I also find it weird that the cursor jumps around.

It looked good at first...

Paul D. Yost, Amazon
13 August 2013
  • Summary: I actually sold an iPad on EBAY to get this laptop, because I needed more functionality and flat hard drive space. After a lot of searching, this seemed like the best bang for the buck (I got a brand new one for about $450.00.) It does have a nice construction as well as some nice features on the touchpad. If their support worked, I would like this more than any laptop I've had to date (and I have had about 40+ laptops.

Shocking

Daxi, Amazon
10 July 2013
  • Summary: I noticed a few days ago when I touch metal on the laptop I got a stick. I thought it was a jagged edge. It kept happening. I finally figured out the laptop was giving me little shocks when i touch the metal. Just checked to see if i could return to Amazon. I missed the return window by a few days. not sure what to do now. Next time I will buy from a real store. P.s. Windows 8 is the worst operating system!

ASUS = VERY GOOD. WINDOWS 8 = Trouble *(READ)*

C. Taylor, Amazon
2 July 2013
  • Summary: 5 STARS FOR ASUS. 2 STARS FOR MICROSOFT. My second return to Amazon... not their fault. + PLUSES: Very good construction, visually attractive, powerful internals, clear display - no problems at all and I recommend ASUS as a company and brand of computer over the Lenovo, Dell, and HP which I checked out and bought. A better fit and finish overall than most laptops. ASUS is based in Taiwan. Lenovo is based in Beijing, China (and crazy NC).

Scott, Amazon
20 March 2013
  • Summary: I had an issue with the software not communicating with the disk drive and other hardware on the computer, so I chose to return it since it was new and I didn't want to have to fix a brand new laptop.

Poor quality control

Bags, Newegg
11 March 2013
  • Pros: Unable to determine
  • Cons: The people at ASUS certainly didn't quality check this laptop. The frame surrounding the keys on the keyboard was poorly mounted and stuck up above the keys. The laptop is being sent back.
