Purchased 7 months ago and already showing signs of electrical problems
Ally T., Amazon

Summary: I purchased this 7 months ago directly from Amazon. There were a few pros like the Icecool and Quick Startup feature but the negatives are adding up. I was getting used to the Windows 8 and sensitive touch pad and I tried to ignore some of the unexpected slowness issues or long periods it needed to restart after freezing when randomly when running an update.
Summary: I rarely write reviews but this laptop as been a huge disappointment. My main problem is that the screen blacks out. Moving the mouse and attempting to restart the laptop don't work. I have to remove the battery for a few minutes and then restart. It's very inconvenient when you're using it for recipes online and you can't proceed because you're waiting on the battery and restart. I have to do this at least once a week. I also find it weird that the cursor jumps around.
Summary: Bought a new Asus..in May....the number keys(top)did not work from the get-go....got some tench help FINALLY after hanging on forever...and the upper keys got fixed and then...Yippee...the touch pad became non-responsive....called again(on line)for tech support...held on for over half an hour before I hung up...called back a few hours later...hung on forever...finally got some help....which was being told to package up the unit and send it in to be fixed..
Summary: I actually sold an iPad on EBAY to get this laptop, because I needed more functionality and flat hard drive space. After a lot of searching, this seemed like the best bang for the buck (I got a brand new one for about $450.00.) It does have a nice construction as well as some nice features on the touchpad. If their support worked, I would like this more than any laptop I've had to date (and I have had about 40+ laptops.
Summary: I really dislike the operating system that the computer came with. We have been unable to install a printer due to issue with this system. The computer itself in terms of appearance is fine. The touchpad is extremely sensitive and this makes it difficult to use.
Summary: I noticed a few days ago when I touch metal on the laptop I got a stick. I thought it was a jagged edge. It kept happening. I finally figured out the laptop was giving me little shocks when i touch the metal. Just checked to see if i could return to Amazon. I missed the return window by a few days. not sure what to do now. Next time I will buy from a real store. P.s. Windows 8 is the worst operating system!
Summary: 5 STARS FOR ASUS. 2 STARS FOR MICROSOFT. My second return to Amazon... not their fault. + PLUSES: Very good construction, visually attractive, powerful internals, clear display - no problems at all and I recommend ASUS as a company and brand of computer over the Lenovo, Dell, and HP which I checked out and bought. A better fit and finish overall than most laptops. ASUS is based in Taiwan. Lenovo is based in Beijing, China (and crazy NC).
Summary: DvD player is very grainy appearing. Also, when you hit the eject button on the side, when it pops out, it feels like you're going to break it just by touching it. VERY very flimsy, and I was so scared to put a dvd in it that I actually held the bottom of the tray while putting the dvd in..
Summary: I run a home graphics business, needed to buy a computer more powerful than my HP i3 4gb. I love that computer, but was treating myself to this supposed powerhorse upgrade i5 8gb. I loaded the Asus up with the same 2 graphic softwares as the HP, & ran them side by side. The HP outperformed the Asus, (Asus not even close on processing speed, & the HP has a ton more memory filled), HP had a better display, & the HP also has a far superior sound (not important, but nice...
