Excerpt: I got this ASUS as a replacement to a lemon Dell that I had been using for about a year. It has been a year and a half and I'm still liking this computer better. It's reliable and fast for most uses. The only thing I've had happen to it is that the screen got a crack in it when my kid used it, I still don't know how he did it.
Excerpt: I bought this laptop in February 2010. It was my first laptop that I ever bought. I did a lot of research before buying. I mainly needed the laptop for college, but even for the non college student it is a very good investment. It is worth the price. It has 3 GB of memory, expandable to 4. very fast computer, I was extremely impressed with the display and I still am. It is very easy to set up. I can run several programs at the same time without any problems whatsoever.
Excerpt: My Dell died one day so I ran out to Best Buy to get a new one. I wanted an Acer because I have one of their desktops and love it. Well don't you know it but Best Buy doesn't sell Acer laptops. They showed me the Asus that best suited my needs and decided to purchase it. It has a large hard drive, a webcam which never had before, large screen, Windows 7, well lit keyboard (in case you want to type in the dark) and lots of great features. It holds lots of pictures.
Excerpt: I purchased this computer during my senior year of college. I minored in Instructional Technology, so I had access to professors and others that I felt I could trust their opinions in regards to purchasing a new computer. When I asked them what was the best out there, there was a resounding answer of "MAC". Unfortunately, Mac's were nowhere near my budget so that was out of the picture. When I asked for an alternative, nearly everyone said to look into ASUS.
Excerpt: I bought this laptop for myself to replace my old desktop. I had shopped around for awhile, comparing prices with specs and systems. I'm not a computer genius and I tend to use my computer for browsing, online games, email- nothing fancy. The HP pavilians had caught my eye but I decided to go with this laptop instead, and am not regretful at all. With rebates, mypoints, and an extra 10% to the sale price, I ended up paying about $475 for this laptop.
Summary: No real cons so far. Less pre-installed bloatware than some other manufacturers. I don't really like the 10-key that pushes the keyboard slightly off center, but everyone's doing it on the 15"+ because the wide screen makes the rest of the notebook wider too, and I guess you gotta fill up the space.
Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Great Value, Quiet
Summary: Pros-Despite arriving with no ASUS user manual or any set up information AT ALL, it was very easy to set up. As soon as I plugged it in and turned it on, Windows 7 loaded, and a program called AI Recovery Burner availed itself to me so thatI was immediately able to make a backup/recovery copy of Windows 7 on dvd. This put me at ease and immediately confirmed that the cd/dvd drive was in good working order.
Summary: So far this laptop has been great. Bought it so that we could access the internet while on the road in our RV. Only real complaint is the wifi is lacking. While we could not access the net with the Asus, our neighbors with a different brand could. As is the case with most computer products, tech support is really lacking. While trying to diagnose the wifi issue they had me reload the system loosing all my personal settings.
Pros: Fast, Long Battery Life, Powerful, Quality Display
Summary: Prior to purchasing this unit i searched the net for reviews on this product which i was unable to find even on [...], so i decided to stick my neck out. After receiving this unit and having everything properly set up i must say that i am quite impressed with the overall performance of this computer. Excellent wireless connectivity, fast response time, and all in all thus far a good investment.
Excerpt: "...a huge name for me Asus are always in my eyes deemed as cheap and not that great in terms of what they offer but I have found them quite good for design. The laptop has the standard black look which I find more appealing then coloured laptops and straight away you're given a nice glossy finish when you open the lid. The main surface is done with the glossy coating and this covers everything except the keypad which is done in a solid black colour ...
