Summary: Selling this laptop is stealing money from customers. So disgusted that ASUS put this product on the market and that sellers are selling it. Purchased this laptop for college, worked for only few years. It will not start start anymore. Probably same problem as others described.
Summary: I've had this laptop for nearly five years now and it's still going strong. Had a few hard drive issues this past year, but it still works like a charm even with League of Legends downloaded on it and tons of iTunes files. Hope it still continues to go strong!
Summary: this computer remains very cool even when i play game such as garrysmod on full settings. it runs windows 7 slow but most of that problem is that windows sucks. i run Linux and it is awesome. the display is very bright and colorful.
Summary: Asus is priced well, but they seem to break after warranty. On this one, the sound has died. Is it the sound card? Since Asus does not have real support, who can know. 3 laptops and all have had problems.
Summary: I bought my asus back in 2009. Its been the best computer ever. Dont believe those horrible reviews from people. The battery lost me all day with the settings at maxiumum power. The asus has been fantastic. I am very sad because I caught my cat laying on the monitor.
Summary: My mom bought this laptop for me as a gift when I entered college. I wish we had taken the time to look at any laptop than this K501J. Within 3 months, the hardrive crashed for the first time, wiping out everything I had saved with confidence to my laptop's hardrive.
Budget computer, has served me well, some down sides

Summary: It's a budget computer, and they say you get what you pay for. The features are solid, the screen is bright. A lot of the ASUS software (function keys, sleep, graphics) wasn't that good in my oppinion. Build quality is 3 stars out of 5.
