Worth the Money

Ario, Amazon
11 March 2014
  • Summary: Looks great works well and runs most games on max/medium settings, but not ALL of'em, which is something i expected off of it. Its 3D mark score was relatively low in its segment as well and it didnt reach the gaming PC benchmark. However. it is priced much lower than other laptops in its segment and has pretty heavy tech-specs so i'm more than satisfied.

Almost the best!

Lucas, Newegg
21 January 2014
  • Summary: I've had this for over 5 months now and no new problems! Still have it overclocked and about to do some upgrading on this beast (SSD boot drive,
  • Pros: Great laptop.. great but not the best. This was my first refurbed laptop purchase and was only slightly disappointed, more on that later. For pros I have to say it arrived looking brand new and the screen is super clear with no dead pixels or strange banding. The graphics card (gtx670mx) is one of the best simply because you can safely overclock this thing to the max and still be at a good temp (57 Celsius at 100%) and if that makes you uncomfortable add a cooling pad...
  • Cons: When I said I was only slightly disappointed I meant this: When I received my laptop it came in case tight cardboard... no pageantry here. Hell, not even bubble wrap!! I'm surprised it wasn't damaged upon arrival. I also had to "repair" some of the IRREMOVABLE Asus bloatware as it was not functioning properly. An easy fix just repair from the Asus support site. The only other con I have is that this thing is NOT lightning quick no matter what any other review states. ...

Biggest bang for your buck

TotalONE, Newegg

  • Summary: After purchasing this I upgraded to SSD and that was the most smartest investment I've made over years. Also, get a cooling pad to make your self even more comfortable during long gaming sessions.
  • Pros: I'm updating my review after receiving a defective item straight from the box. This time everything works like it should, something to expect from ASUS. Its my 3rd G series laptop and about 10th ASUS product I ordered.
  • Cons: 5400 RPM HDD speed that's about all, battery life is not very lasting but that's something you should expect from this laptop with those specs.

Big...reviews are not kidding when they say this is a beast.

Johnnie B. Chesser "Johnnie B", Amazon

  • Summary: I love ASUS. All things ASUS. Had great luck with laptop before so I got this one and its really been a experience. I am no a hard core gamer or techo geek, so perhaps it was a bit more than I needed, but I considered others possibly using also. Its very heavy. I kid you not, you notice the weight if you have to take your laptop on a trip. It really matters! I didn't that it would. But if that was the only problem with the laptop I would have given it 5 stars.

Better than I expected

Wakko, Newegg
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I'm loving this laptop so far. Powers on and off very quickly once I replaced the primary with an SSD. Effective battery life with SSD is 5 hours for normal processing, and 2 hours with intense gaming.
  • Pros: -Solid performer
  • Cons: -CPU & GPU not easily upgradeable

Great machine; minor annoances

Sam, Newegg
23 August 2013
  • Pros: There are plenty of great pros about this computer. Mainly for it's price you get a powerful i7 and 670MX 3GB video card which is just phenomenal for a gaming computer of this price range. The design and feel of the computer is also great and the display is beautiful. Setting up was easy and there wasn't as much bloatware as expected.
  • Cons: I only had one issue which is why I'm taking away a star -- I knew it was refurbished but whether it was due to bad packaging or maybe a few scratches on the casing It didn't matter that much to me but then I found that the "Y" key sometimes sticks, it turns out that ASUS puts a little round piece of plastic on the bottom of each key to make it contact better with the rubber pressure button underneath. However, sometimes these are missing causing sluggishness.

Good computer, some issues

Houston, Newegg
6 August 2013
  • Summary: I knew I was taking a gamble with buying a refurbished model, but I'm satisfied overall with my purchase. Even with the few issues I mentioned, I would recommend this purchase to a friend.
  • Pros: Excellent processor, GPU is solid, upgradability in terms of HDD and RAM. Runs modern titles very well, best gaming rig I've owned. Got it while it was on sale ($919.00).
  • Cons: Dead pixel in screen, some keyboard keys require replacement, some wear and tear, windows 8 (knew this prior to purchase). UPS was a couple days late with delivery (not the fault of Newegg)

Damn good, with minor issues

Brian Strand, Amazon
18 April 2013
  • Summary: Great purchase, but I'll start with the problems: I can occasionally see the horizontal pixelation of the screen, the touchpad was created by Satan, and Windows 8 is terrible. They're forcing Windows 8 on every new machine so people get stuck with it then really want to buy Windows 9, so that sucks. That being said, I use an external mouse and installed a 3rd party start menu software, so the problems are pretty much negated.

  • Summary: Got this bad boy yesterday..This is a really good laptop! I have no issues with it's performance and I could play all the games I throw at it with MAX settings. Boot time is really fast less than 12 seconds. No issues with temperature even during gaming. Highly recommended! Only thing I sort of dislike is the weight because it's heavy for me.
  • Pros: High Performance, can play all the latest games at max settings, Excellent cooling system, Good build quality, very fast boot time, very good build quality, hybrid HDD
  • Cons: weight
