Pros: The laptop is extremely fast, I purchased it for a gaming laptop. Even though the processor is 2 years old it is still much faster than most of the newer processors on laptops in the $1000 range. The graphics card is the cheapest GTX possible but is a better card than most of the newer GT models. I bought this computer to run Diablo 3 and it runs it great on highest settings. The HDD is large but personally I would rather have a HDD 1/4 the size that is SSD.
Cons: The keyboard is terrible. the shift and enter keys are half-sized and there is 2 additional keys. Im not sure if this keyboard is for another language besides english but it is very akward, I will never hit shift or enter the first time. Also Windows 8 is the worst operating system I have used, it is not user friendly at all. After about 30 minutes of trying to even get to the control panel, I almost pulled out my Win7 CD. Unfortunately the computer did not come with ...
Pros: Fast, plenty of RAM for VMs just a nice all around machine.
Cons: Some kind of weird flickering bars in the screen lighting. It only happens when it first comes on or when I change the brightness settings. Most of the time you don't see it and it isn't enough to affect game play but it worries me a little. Also when you update the video card driver you have to hard reset the system and pull the battery for the video card to come back on. At first it made me a little nervous but everything has been working fine.
Summary: I bought this laptop to use mainly for web design. I wanted the larger screen because I use photo shop a lot and I couldn't see using a 13 or 15 inch screen to do that. This is a desktop replacement machine for me. I really like the ergonomics of the laptop. The profile makes the screen higher up in the back, so I'm not hunching down to view the screen at the correct angle. I was worried about that while deciding to buy a laptop instead of another desktop or all-in-one.
Summary: For anyone familiar with Asus, their gaming machines are big and heavy, which I don't mind. I don't use this for much gaming, I am more interested in the specs for graphics work (Adobe products). I have found that it runs Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and the likes with absolutely no issues. Overall a good computer.
Summary: I've owned my Asus for over a year (bought it just before Windows 8.0 became standard on all machines, wasn't jumping on that band wagon to #3!!). So far, system performance has been great but I'll go over that in a second. I spent several weeks looking and reading reviews for a new laptop before I came on this one and could not complain about the price for what the device comes with.
Summary: Let me begin, first, with how much I have loved ASUS Laptops, in general. They are quality built, that provide superior specs, for a below-average price. I've owned several of these laptops. The G75VW model is a very solid laptop that appears to have learned upon past G-series problems that dealt with the hinges of their cases, as well as the venting of the internal components.
Summary: Great laptop and gave it a four star and not a five star because received it with a DOA DVD drive. I was able to remove it and send it in to ASUS repair center. It was replaced and now all is working wonderfully. Computer is fast. From pushing start button to log in takes only 10 seconds.
