Summary: I know it looks fancy but please don't. I had hardware issues, stopped booting up after a week, as well as plastic grips on the bottom of the computer just falling off. Also some of the keys were not very responsive. I'm returning it. On the plus side returning it has been easy. Stay away, please.
Summary: As per Betty J's review, I too ran into a very similar problem. Was not happy with the computer. The sound mainly came from the subwoofer and not the actual speakers and the subwoofer is not centrally located on the computer so it made for a very awful audio experience. This was a problem that you could only find out about after opening the box and testing the product thus making it ineligible for return.
Beware buying expensive electronic equipment through Amazon
3 January 2013
Summary: Our Asus G75VW laptop purchased in Sept 2012 for nearly $1,400 and registered with ASUS is defective and needs to be returned. It is now booting into a black screen, which is typically a hardware issue. We hear Windows complete startup, so it is likely a bad LVDS cable connection, bad cable, electrical short, or faulty power supply. Apparently other users have encountered this same issue. Regardless of the cause, we now to exchange the defective laptop for a new unit.
Summary: This $2000.00 computer worked for 3 hours before it crapped out. I have been screwing around with their customer service for 7 days with no help what so ever. I would never ever purchase another asus product again.
Summary: The specs made this sound like a great notebook. But the units I received were of poor quality. The first unit shipped would freeze/lockup and then reboot itself frequently. Searching on the internet I found several similar problems like this with this and other ASUS models. Because of these problems the notebook was unusable for any work or play. I requested an exchange from Amazon, which they promptly delivered (kudos).
Summary: I purchased the ASIS computer through a link on Amazon. It was built by an authorized ASUS retailer who customized it a little more than what was offered off the shelf through Amazon. My problem is not with the retailer, but with customer service and repair by ASUS. On day 7 after use, the main board conks out. It was returned at ASUS expense where it set there for 29 days waiting for a new main board. It was like trying to find hens teeth to get an update.
Summary: Firstly, I ordered this for $1499.74 Seeing as how for some reason it's jumped in price~~ I'd wait. I will be all over the place with this review so bare with me. Reviews are tough. CPU idle temp- 49~51 CPU load temp-66 GPU idle temp-46 GPU load temp-69 Turbo boost on cpu randomly boosts to 3.2Ghz when I'm just on facebook playing some flash games, it's like why are you turbo boosting for this?
Summary: I bought it, it arrived and was not properly screwed, so I asked for another one. The second one seemed perfect, but it freezes all the time while using basic programs, it is not a Windows 7 problem, but Asus problem, for more see asus G75V crash at Google a lot of complaints!. Just do not buy it!
Summary: Received unit with no apparent damage. Installed battery and connected power adapter. Pressed power button. Indicator lights (power, charging, HDD activity) appeared normal. However the screen was black. Keyboard backlights functioned. Turned off and back on,; same result. Tried adjusting the screen brightness, however, screen remained black. Called ASUS tech support. I was walked through a reset routine but the screen stayed black. ASUS tech said unit was defective.
Summary: I bought this review because of the excellent specs for a fairly reasonable price. I had this laptop for no more than a month when a bright pixel appeared on the LED screen. Since the sticker on the box said "0 bright dot guarantee", I didn't really worry about it. However, after contacting customer service, I was told that the "0 Bright dot guarantee" only covered you if you hade 5 or more bright dots.
