Summary: I bought this computer for my son. Some of the newer games ran slow on his older gaming computer. Not this one. It handles all games with no drag. The picture is great on the 17 inch screen. The sound is good as well. This is an awesome gaming PC and would highly recommend this laptop for hard core gamers. There is nothing I dislike about this computer. I spent months trying to find a laptop that could play my sons video games. None of them compared to this one.
Summary: I have an ASUS motherboard in my desktop, great hardware. The laptop is big and heavy, but it does as much as my desktop setup. The only gripe is the DVD/Bluray unit, I move between U.S., New Zealand and China. The unit can not be made to region 0 or multi-region. I carry a portable usb DVD unit to get around this. The next laptop will be another ASUS.
Summary: I had to finance this great laptop as it was a little overpriced, but one of the few 3D laptops on the market. Most games not produced for 3D will play in 3D! Sweet! Battery life is for the birds, maybe 1 hour as the unit is already 2 years old. 3D Blu-Ray movies are phenomenal when played with Cyberlink Power DVD player I purchased separately. Has 2 hard drives 750gb each. I use my second drive for storage of STEAM games which is now full!
Summary: The computer I owned didn't have the specs to handle my Video Editing Software so I looked around for a beefy Gaming Computer that would. The G74SX-BBK11 renders video in record time. In addition it will handle anything else you throw at it with outstanding speed. Quality video files are huge - I couldn't live without the 1TB hard drive.
Finally a long lasting laptop, that can play games!

Summary: What's not to love? I've had this for a few years now. All I've replaced/upgraded was the main HDD. I upgraded it to an SSD. It's still as relevant as the day I bought it (no severely outdated hardware). Will be at least a few more years until I look to upgrade. For mild/moderate gamers, this laptop can handle it all. It easily replaces my old desktop, while using much less power.
Summary: I've had this laptop for nearly 2 years now and it's been fantastic. It's only ever had one issue, which occurred recently, with the DCIN port where the AC adapter goes. I'm still under warranty and the customer service at ASUS is being very helpful with the issue. This laptop itself is built like a beast, and has lasted 3 times as long as the other laptops my family has owned.
Summary: Fast computer, touchpad gets twitchy once in a while if you use it more than an hour at a time. The screen is great, the lighted keyboard is very useful for working, and its nice and pretty to look at as well. Obviously the matte finish is going to get prints on it, I have never been disappointed by an asus computer before, my previous one made it 6 years no problems before someone stole it.
Summary: I bought this to prototype code in Matlab, C, C++, and CUDA. It has proven to be a workhorse. ASUS makes great products that are well priced. The only thing one might consider as a drawback of this laptop (or similar models) is the size. To be as powerful as it is, it is a monster. It comes with a backpack, really just because it is nearly impossible to find one from other sources that can actually hold it.
Summary: My Custom built desktop has a ASUS motherboard using an ASUS 23" monitor. Both have performed flawlessly. Their products are built to meet quality standards and not built to meet a low price. Well worth the bucks, and that is why I waited to find just the right one on Ebay. I have a Toshiba 18.4" screen, just a shrunken desktop which has also done well.
