Goes Beyond Bang For Buck

  • Summary: This notebook ROCKS!!! Don't let the complaints of the keyboard backlight scare you. The problem is caused by the windows 7 update, and is fixed by downloading and reinstalling the NTK drivers from the ASUS website under "downloads" I called their tech support and they literally walked me through the process on the phone. Now I have my Windows updated and everything works perfect!! Oh, and the ASUS tech support was great.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Great Gaming, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Heavy, Short Battery Life

Great combination of power and value

13 February 2011
  • Summary: After considering a lot of options (including the newer G73SW model) I finally settled on this model for a number of reasons, the main one being the value for the price which would be very hard to beat. This laptop features a decent CPU in the 1st generation i7 740 mobility chip, 8 GB RAM which is easily upgradeable to 12 GB in the future (16 GB with a bit of work), a relatively high end NVIDIA graphics card with 1.5 GB dedicated video RAM, blue-ray, wireless-N, gigabit...
  • Pros: Backlit Keyboard, Blue-Ray, Good Cooling Design, Large Trackpad, Memory card reader, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
  • Cons: Glossy screen, Heavy, Inaccessible RAM Slot, No ExpressCard Slot, Short Battery Life

  • Summary: One month prior to owning this ASUS G73JW I ordered a custom laptop from [...] I paid way too much for a 15.4" 4gb 120gb ssd win 7 pro it was cheaply built and poor support, all for $1255.00 $300.00 more & now I have a real power house this laptop is well built great looking love the keyboard,I never hear the Fans, screen is a delight bright and crisp. And free laptop bag and gaming mouse, no shiny plastic to show every blemish,5 Star.

Poor Warranty Service

Sixer, J&R

  • Summary: This is a great gaming laptop, especially for the money. However, about 12 days ago the power supply failed on it. It's a very easy repair, yet Asus has had it for 10 days and counting. Not saying don't buy it, but be aware of the long downtime should something go wrong.

  • Summary: Where do I even begin? The Asus G73JW A-1 is one serious piece of hardware. When I first started shopping for laptops 8 months ago, I was looking at the most current version of the time, the G73 JH. After months of research, no matter where I looked or what brands I looked at, the G73 always blew the competing brands out of the water.

Excellent Laptop

  • Summary: I use this laptop primarily for gaming purposes and it handles that with no problem at all, even with my music player running in the background with web browsers open. This laptop is so quiet despite its power. My old laptop was embarrassing to use in any public environment because it would annoy even me with all its fan and hard drive noises.
  • Pros: Comfortable Keyboard, Cool, Fast, Lightweight, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet, Screen Size
  • Cons: Poorly Designed Keyboard

Yikes!

  • Summary: Used so far mainly for gaming of course. But with this powerful processor and RAM I can see it being used for multi-media also. What else good can I add that has not been said already? It has all been said. Was in the fence line between this and the Toshiba Q898 but decided to go with this. Better designed for gaming with the dedicated cooling, also the style of the ASUS really is something. The coolest laptop out there.
  • Pros: Beautiful Design, Comfortable Keyboard, Fast, Powerful, Quality Display, Quiet
