Summary: I will NEVER recommend an Asus product to anyone...EVER! I went through three consecutive Asus-manufactured laptops. Refurbished is supposed to be next to brand new (sans new packaging, by law). What I received were three straight up lemons...in a friggin' row! The first one would give me HDD error messages, second one had an issue with the headphone jack where it would get stuck in headphone audio mode - a known issue with the manufacturer that was aknowledged, but...
Summary: This is my second Asus refurb. My first was the g50VT-X5 which peformed really well. This laptop has great specs and solid construction. It is a good buy. But here's why its not a GREAT buy. First problem is the heat. The main vent which is to the left side just under where you would rest your hand to press the AWSD keys gets really hot! Its so bad I have to place something between my hand and the laptop. Next is the video problem I've been having.
Summary: I strong recommend don't buy this laptop. The design is very very bad, the temperature increase very fast after few hours using. After I bought it two months, it become thermal shutdown again and again!!!!! It makes me lost lots of important files. Based on Amazon return polity I can't return after one month. And I ask ASUS to repair, their response this laptop is out of warranty because it's Refurbished!!!!!! If I want to repair they have to charge fee.
Summary: First of all you get 90 day warranty from manufacture. You can try to register it on their website but it wont allow you because it is a refurbished model. I had no knowledge of that so i called and wrote emails and about week later i get the response. Now this laptop get hot, really hot and is very heavy to move around especially with a 1 inch thick butchers block, Nzxt cooler and laptop. It needs a really good cooler. The graphics card is good and so is the processor.
Summary: This was, quite simply, a lemon. Upon booting the machine up for the first time, I received a BSOD. After restarting a few times I managed to actually get past the log in screen. But it was all downhill from there. Each time I opened the laptop, I had to cross my fingers that it would not give me a blue screen. After a week of trying everything within my power to fix it, I called Asus tech support. 3 times!
Summary: As some put it getting this is "Refurbished Roulette " for the most part people seem to be getting good systems or they do not know what they are doing, I got one that looks like new and works GREAT. I have had this for two weeks now and as far as gaming goes it is a Beast. There is a website that you can go to and see if your system will run certain games and I checked out a few more I was thinking about getting and it says they will all run smooth.
Summary: I just got the machince, it hasn't even been an hour. mine has not a single scratch on it. it's very clean!! the only thing is the dvd drive is cheaply fixed but beyond that, i love it! heats up like a mother load but what would you expect from a beast like this? I got the black one!
Summary: Well i open the box and followed the setup procedures. After i got done with that it needed to restart and when it did it started to BSOD, (Blue screen) For every little thing. I contacted the manufacturer and they said update the bios etc and i did and well the problem did not go away. Also the windows update feature was not responding and after 2 days of trying to fix the problem i decided to return it.
Summary: when i was buying this laptop i just went off of the info from the page, and knowing abit about computers could tell this was a very good deal. however what i didnt realize what just how good a deal i was getting. the page failed to mention this is a gameing laptop and that it has a backlit keyboard and special lighting on the lid and, not as special, a built in mic and webcam.
