Great computer, bulky, great performance, OVERHEAT!
18 December 2012
Summary: I bought this computer about 2 years ago and I can say this was my first "official" purchase made by own, at the time of purchase it was an incredible machine! I could run nearly all games at high quality without any problems. I did notice that this computer was a bit bulky weighting in at around 7-8 pounds while generating A LOT OF HEAT! This was the main issue with the computer, there was nothing wrong until about 2 years ago when my video card actually fried.
Summary: Look at the title, if your looking for a laptop you just need to leave now. This laptop's battery has a whooping 1 hour life. Mine is over a year and a half old and it still is about that. I came here to write a review and clear some misconceptions up. If your reading the one star reviews you probably have been scared away, but listen, if your going to buy this computer your going to need some knowledge.
Summary: This laptop has the worst keyboard of any device I have ever used. That includes my phone, a timex-sinclair ZX81, and a Teletype machine from 1951. If you type faster than hunt-n-peck speed it just plain misses keystrokes. If you hit the same key twice in a row without pausing in between, it only notices the first one.
Summary: When I first got this computer, I got a huge amount of bugs on the first day. Start time would take a good 15 minutes (timed). So to hit the button, and load everything before you can do anything is 15 minutes. Once it starts it gets decent performance but nothing spectacular... My previous laptop (HP HDX 16) had a quicker start up time with comparable parts. First day I had 3 BSODs, and for the first week I had to format my computer 8 times before it stopped popping up.
Video card stopped working after 9 months - now technical support has stolen my laptop

Summary: I loved this laptop the first 9 months that I had it. It was great for gaming, the screen was big, the lights looked cool, etc. I knew the negatives going in - low battery life, noisy, traps fingerprints - and was prepared for them. Unfortunately, this love was not to last. My baby started having graphics problems nine months after I got it. I called tech support, tried some different drivers, and had to RMA it.
Summary: Fastest laptop I've owned. I buy all brand laptops to check them out, and tell people about them. Most differences I see from different brand laptops is the key placement on the keyboard, style, and design. For example when gaming sometimes different laptops have the FN key where the control button is, and the FN key would be beside it which is a pain when you are playing a game, and hit the FN key instead of the control key.
Summary: This is my first Asus purchase, and was very excited waiting for the box to arrive in the mail. At first the wireless did not work, so I was hoping I would not have to send it back for repair or exchange. Turned out the wireless button was turned off. So I was very relieved that was taken care of. Next issue was it was saying that the copy of Windows was not geniune. No big deal, taking a minute to activate should solve that issue also.
Summary: it doesnt have ablueray as it requeires for it's properties, not that fast as it says for it's properties, and even crash somehow:S!!! and the quality of the laptop parts are really easily broken i warn yu, dont look at the price and the parts they never get well with each other like a sony or a toshiba, and also it says that its a game machine but it doesnt even go well with a football manager 2010!!!! so i must say buy a toshiba or sony like i do now!!!!
Summary: ASUS did a fine job on this laptop. Power, memory, hardisk, 1080p+ with the right set of i/o's I prefer. Win 7 is a different matter - have to upgrade too many other applications, etc. This my 2nd laptop from ASUS and again I am pleased....
