ASUS G50V

LAPTOP Magazine

  • Summary: Although the ASUS G50V’s scores are very good for a 15.4-inch notebook, customers should think seriously about the Gateway P-7811FX, which has better raw performance scores and costs $300 less while delivering a larger display. • Excerpt: The Asus G50v may well be the best gaming laptop on the market, but can it really match the competition when it comes to the other functions?
  • Pros: For gaming on the go there is simply no better laptop at the moment than the G50v. This 3.3kg laptop packs in a NVIDIA Geforce 9700M GT card – the best single-card solution there is. All round performance is stunning, courtesy of the Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 and 4GB of RAM.
  • Cons: The keyboard is a good size, but you’ll find the keys tend to rattle and feel loose as you type. There’s a Blu-ray drive built in, but the screen only has a 1366×768-pixel resolution, so it’s not Full HD.
