Summary: There is no choice NONE! but to BUY THIS LAPTOP AS SOON AS YOU SEE IT, no choices <$700
Pros: Gamers laptop looks kinda cool no scratches dents uningine Heaven demo @ 12fps 31 Celsius before driver update @ 31fps 75 Celsius after update , Looks cool, core i5 just awesome.
Cons: F@#ng Windows 8(1 star removed), no CD/DVD drive , no removable battery. no Windows CD key, fingerprint magnet plastic, parts are technically obsolete, kinda bulky, 14 inch screen, again Windows 8
Summary: A very low capacity 6 cell battery make it not so very portable. Once the battery is dead for a period of life-use, the laptop will be candidate for disposal. Pros: Excellent video card. GTX660M, never fail when I use it for gaming.
Summary: I paid $699 for this refurbished laptop and for the money I definitely feel like I got a good deal.
Pros: Strong GFX card combined with i5. The 8 gb of RAM is a major plus. So far it has run every game I've thrown at it without a problem. Games like Far Cry 3 and Arkham City look really good on it and run without any framerate issues.
Cons: About 3 weeks into having this laptop, the power supply just up and died on it. I'm not sure if it was because it was defective or not, but since this was a refurbished laptop I wasn't too surprised it happened. Luckily, I was able to find a power supply online with the same specs as the original, and even though it set me back another 80 bucks, it has worked great ever since. Another setback is the hard drive. It can be very slow at times and feels out of place in co...
Summary: I'm still excited to get a working model. From experiance on my larger (but older) laptop, I can play almost anything at max graphics, and this laptop has the same specs. For such a small computer to be able to play brand new games at great speeds, its worth the fact that it is a refurb.
Pros: Price and power are great. I have the larger version of this, and it is awesome for gaming. My wife needed one to play some games on, and she liked the smaller form factor (mine is 17" and weighs 10lbs, unlike this 4lb one).
Cons: Hard drive speed, and the fact that it is a refurb. Our GFX card was DOA. Everything checked out, tried updating drivers etc, but there was massive rendering errors. I'm talking vertices on a modal spread out in spikes, arms where they didn't need to be... it was bad. RMA process hasn't been to painful so far, but the extra $50 in shipping kind of sucked.
Summary: Over-all... I LOVE THIS LAPTOP! I can not believe what a steal of a price I got on this. Again, as the title states "A must buy for a gamer on a budget". I never thought I would find a laptop as good as this for under $600.
Pros: Every game played is at 40+FPS (LoL, WoW, SC2 HoTS, etc) with settings on Ultra. The i5 runs great considering when i game i play music, p2p chat and the game with a 2nd screen hooked in for extended desktop and i have no lag switching between everything. The 5400 rpm HD is meh but no issues so far. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M is A MAZE ING!!! I love it! the 14" screen is not bad, i got used to it and actually like it now. I have an ASUS 20" screen I hook in and still...
Cons: WIIIIINNNNNNDDDDDDOOOOOOWWWWWWSSSSSSS 8?!?! UGH -.- and mix with alot of bloatware (Easy to remove though).... The hard drive at 5400 RPM isn't that big of an issue but still 5440 rpm -.- ....No Cd drive, but i bought an external so no issues there.... The ONLY thing that was REALLY REALLY REALLY beyond frustrating me is that I can not get the Webcam to work! -.- I have done the fix, re-did the drivers, contacted ASUS and NO ONE CAN HELP ME :( I broad cast my games in...
Summary: It is an amazing machine I am taking an egg off because of no way to get any kind of recovery media. It will not allow you to create any, and ASUS will not sell it because there is no SN on the bottom. They say only way to get any recovery media or the SN for Win 8 you need to be the original purchaser.
Pros: Great laptop. Amazingly fast, easily multi-tasks my school work, business work and gaming.
Cons: There is no restoration partition. And there is no way to even get the disks from ASUS. Not to mention that there is no Windows 8 key included for reinstallation if needed.
Summary: It's a gaming laptop almost an ultra book gaming rig if you will, but when it comes down to it this the best one around for this price tag; I paid 800 plus tax for this guy and it's almost 20% off. I wish it was this price when my semester was starting, oh well.
Pros: I bought this laptop from Best Buy new so I can't say how good a refurb unit will be, but I can say that I love this notebook. I don't really care that it doesn't have a optical drive, but just the fact that it runs so quietly and every game I've played so far was beautiful. The G46 has a two tone kind of texture in that the screen's back is smooth almost rubber feel and the bottom is a standard plastic look. Dual fans make this laptop very cool to the touch as well. ...
Cons: The main draw back I have is in the keyboard; not the keyboard itself which is backlit which is a huge plus, but it has a brushed metal casing that surrounds it which collects so much dust and hair. The same can be said for the screen'a back cover except for finger prints run rampant here. I am disappointed that the battery is integrated in to the machine itself; I hate to see what it costs to have the battery changed when it dies or how much a new one will cost for p...
