Unit underpowerted and poorly planned, Windows 8 the worst.
25 June 2013
Summary: Unit came on time. It was a price purchase just as my Compaq 15.6 died. Keyboard is a nice size and works well, with just a bit of a bounce. Screen is nice and bright with a decent lateral and horizontal view. Problems right off the bat with explorer, froze and would not recover, the installed RAM is too little for that browser. Installed both chrome and FF and both worked well for a time or two. Than they also froze. Machine shut down and could not repair itself.
Summary: There isn't a lot I like about this laptop. Cost was probably the only thing I do like. When you open an app it takes about 45 seconds to open. The layout of the keyboard is off so it takes a while to get used to. Battery does not last as long as advertised. Too many other things to list. Trying to sell it and get something different.
Summary: I am not sure what is worse - Asus or Windows 8 - but together they are definitely awful! It is just a slow, painful, clunky experience with continuous hiccups. I recently gave it to my 15 year old son for homework etc. but less than a week later his verdict was practically the same as mine. He is going to work and save over the Summer to buy another laptop.
Summary: First is amazons pricing, they had this on a special saying it was nearly 60 off in price, only to find it listed after the lightening deal for a mere ten off....games, games, games...one need be wary of amazon pricing. The computer is cheaply made, more or less unattractive, the sides of the keyboard and the mouse pad give way under pressure..the keyboard keys stroke is awkward. Mine was returned...better to spend a bit more and get something more solid and reliable.
Summary: I bought this laptop for work purposes and it has been VERY glitchy. It clicks on things that I am not selecting, that the mouse is not even near. It shuts down on me all the time and takes a minimum of 30 minutes to come back up due to 'updates'. It randomly freezes to the point that I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. I would not buy this again. Nor would I buy it with Windows 8. That has been another nightmare that I think they should never have made!
Summary: This is the second one. I returned the 1st because there was a problem with the touch pad. It would not track when plugged in. I returned it, Thanks Amazon for being such a great store, The second one does the same thing. I also lost some files because the file library stopped working.
Summary: I bought an asus laptop recently and i actually contacted asus about the specifications before i bought it. so i ordered it because the company told me it had certain specs. when i got it,it didnt have it.so my programs didnt work right on it and when i got a hold of asus, they told me tough luck. read the specs better next time.
Summary: Length:: 8:09 Mins Looks like a solid computer. I'm in it for the hardware aspect only. I plan to reformat the hard drive with Windows 7. One things I noticed though that sketched me out. I have this screen jittering bug. If I leave the laptop on for more than 10 minutes without touching it, it just starts freaking out. I'm not sure if this is Amazon or Windows 8 [...] ----EDIT: 9:59pm 1/8/2013----- I have a flickering screen that will not stop.
Summary: We purchased an Asus laptop (ModelX54C-BBK24) three months ago from Best Buy for a business project, along with a Geek Squad service contract, and are seriously dissatisfied with the results. About two months after the purchase, the computer stopped working. We took it into Best Buy for diagnosis and repair. The Geek Squad determined that the problem was a defective hard drive and its replacement was covered under Asus's warranty.
The computer was refurbished and i wouldnt have bought it if that was stated

Summary: this computer was a gift for my daughter and i was disappointed to find that it was refurbished. Never had that happened on amazon before. now i am in the process of replacing the screen and the charging port. Do be careful when buying electronics. Asus is still my favorite brand but like i said dont buy refurbished computers. Usually used like new from amazon is just an open box item or damaged packaging but this one was a lemon.
