Summary: These netbooks in my opinion are nearly not usable with 1 GB of RAM. The problem with this model is that you can not upgrade the RAM. The RAM is soldered to the motherboard, and is not upgradable. At the time of purchase, you could have chosen to buy the 2GB model. I would avoid this model. I have many of the other ASUS EEE netbooks, all upgraded to 2GB of RAM and they work great. This model, not my first choice.
Summary: The hard drive is constantly scratching, even with just a light browser such as Opera or Chrome. Takes ages to shut down, really ages. Tons of useless services at startup. Seriously considering upgrading from 7 to XP. Battery autonomy is ridiculous: 3 hours max. with screen at min and just a browser. Multi touch is not responsive at all: two fingers for scroll triggers after a while and then goes too far; zoom with two fingers not suported.
Summary: I'm going to start with the Cons, because I like a happy ending... Cons: The 1011PX ships with Windows 7 Starter and 1Gb of RAM. So the natural thought is "I'll buy a second stick of RAM and up it to 2Gb running in Dual Channel Mode." WRONG! ASUS has created a Quad-Core mini-laptop with 1Gb hardwired to the motherboard and NO EXPANSION SLOT. There is a door for it, but when you open it up, there is no slot to put your second RAM into.
Summary: What a such bad experience has been buying this item of this brand. I am very discouraged. the signal does not reach more than 5 steps of the router and it is not the router because I have other laptops at home and work very well. I contact the supplier and I was told no service coverage in Venezuela. The question is what service for if the laptop is new? I do not recommend this product.
Summary: I took the computer out of the box, turned it on and immediately showed an error. Called Asus customer support and it was so bad that even the representative said to return it as there was no way they could help me get it fixed. I'm returning back the computer tomorrow and requesting the refund.
Summary: The first problem I noticed with this unit is you can't upgrade the memory. Amazon gave me a 25% discount (I could have returned the unit). The next problem is a little more serious if you are expecting 10 hrs battery life, as Asus claims. Initially I didn't see to be getting anything close to the 10 hrs so I sent the battery back to Asus, thinking I'd got a bad one. When I got the new one back things did not seem to have improved.
Summary: ASUS REALLLLY missed the mark on this model. Died 4 days out of return window... 1Gb of memory...NOT UPGRADABLE.... So you can't even load Windows 7 on it. Poor Unit compared to my other ASUS systems (3).
Summary: If you're in the market for a netbook, then you already know what you're NOT getting: don't expect a disc drive, high gaming capabilities, or a significant amount of memory. I didn't add multitasking to the list, because to my surprise this little PC can handle quite a bit more than I expected-- I often have open multiple word documents, multiple adobe documents, dozens of internet tabs, and both spotify and skype running in the background.
Excerpt: This operating system will acutally make the computer perform faster, however, Linux is far less compatible and harder to use overall. All together though, the computer is still excellent. The price is great on the laptop the majority of the time, and it’s extremely portable. If you’re someone looking for a really portable laptop to take wherever and do general Internet browsing, this laptop is definitely the answer for you.
