Excerpt: I was super exicted to see ASUS finally put out a dual core netbook with the new Nvidia ION2 graphics card in it - I just purchased this about 3 weeks ago, and I am loving every minute I have with this machine! First note - this is NOT a laptop! Do not believe that it is going to do everything your current mainstream laptop can do - it is designed for the ultraportable market, and it performs as such. That being said, a netbook like this really blurrs the lines between...
Excerpt: Excellent overclocking abilities using SETFSB and Nvidia tools software. Out of the box performance in 3D Mark 2006 = 2650 3D Marks. With an OC'd CPU at 2.1 ghz and video card bumped up faster than GeForce 305M clock settings my 3D Marks are now at 3225. CPU marks went up from 775 to > 1100 OC'd to 2.1 ghz. BIG NEGATIVE- Stock 250 gb HDD is SLOW. Even worse, Asus did not make the HDD accessible from the bottom of the laptop.
Excerpt: Coming from a first generation macbook, I am extremely impressed with how this netbook runs. It can play most games at low settings and the battery life is ~5-6 hours with moderate to light use. Fast, great battery life, can run several VM's at the same time. AR-9285 atheros wifi chipset supports injection, runs backtrack nicely, Ubuntu 10.4 runs fast, however the nvidia card is always on cutting battery life. There is a vgaswitheroo app but haven't tried it.
Excerpt: This netbook uses AMD Chipset and Nvidia mobile graphics, right off the bat you notice a difference in speed vs other netbooks and the machine is able to handle HD video no problem. Battery life averages around 4 hours and the screen is gorgeous. The build quality is pretty decent too the hinge is solid and the matte black prevents any smudges on the case cover. Also, I never realized how useful it is to have an HDMI out.
Excerpt: One reason I bought this particular unit is as an eventual replacement for my Dell X1 that has kitchen duty. I will either buy an HP TouchSmart desktop or 14" Lenovo Edge laptop to replace the Asus.
Summary: This is one of the only 12.1 inch netbooks on the market (especially in this price range). i got a del duo and returned it and got this instead. i am much happier. If you like the mobility of a tablet but can do without the novelty of the touch screen, this 12.1 inch screen makes a huge diffiernce.
Pros: Adequate Memory, Adequate Storage, Comfortable Keyboard, Fast Web Browsing, Good Battery Life, Good Display Screen, Lightweight, Operating System, WiFi
