Summary: I would not buy this ever again. I had an issue with the Battery and the people at Customer Service were horrid to me. they would not help me in getting a new one. They yelled at me on the phone, I thought the customer was always right........i have a one year warranty.....do not buy from them. I am in customer service and I would never treat a person like they did.
Summary: This is my second ASUS laptop and none of these laptop pass 1 year. Laptop it self is very good how ever either power supple die, power supply connection to laptop broke off. This is my last ASUS laptop.
Summary: I purchased this netbook in December 2011 because a friend of my stepped on and broke my 1005PE-B. I was excited for the ION2 graphics card (I like to play indie games that require some graphical power) and for the 2gb of RAM that I was planning on upgrading to 4gb. So I was all hyped up for the machine. And it was great -- until it wasn't.
Summary: I bought 2 of these laptops for my sons. Within months each of them had problems charging. The power jack on the laptop side where you plug in the AC adapter becomes loose and requires you to push slightly on the jack to get it to charge. As soon as you let go, it says it is back on battery power. Both laptops have exactly the same problem and from what I have researched, many more on the internet. It is a great laptop with a defective part that ASUS should recall!
Summary: Since day one the track pad on this hasn't worked... It will work great for a few minutes and then will stop moving up and down and will just start randomly not move the cursor at all. I thought this may be a driver issue or a software related with all the bloatware, but I installed Ubuntu on it and the exact same problem occur there. It works great for a few minutes and then just stops working. Contacted ASUS support and they were not helpful in the least.
Summary: I have a high level of technological proficiency. Beyond being an enthusiast, I've worked in the IT sector. So I've dealt with a lot of bad products, and a few good ones. I bought this for business school and for travel. Out of the box, I realized what the other reviews meant by the touchpad problems -- it is pretty awful. I've fiddled with it as much as possible (like I said, I know what I'm doing). The touchpad is basically non-functional.
value priced performance. poor quality. dreadful service.

Summary: at first a very likeable w7 64 bit netbook. right size, weight, price. i waited for the dreaded trackpad problem to present, but it did only occassionally, and i used a BT mouse. BUT at 10 months into ownership (try to find the length of your warranty, i challenge anyone) i updated the bios, and it became unbootable. i could not get to the recovery partition. it needed to be sent back. i have owned most brands of pc's, laptops, over a 25+ year period.
Summary: This was a great computer; it's light and easy to carry around, has a long battery life, is fast enough for my basic internet needs (Netfix, googledocs, email, usually 3 windows open at a time)and the 12 inch screen is the perfect size--not quite a netbook but not a huge laptop. But like many reviewers mention on here, (and on other sites) the touch pad is faulty. After about 5-10 minutes of use, it will freeze up.
Summary: I have been a long time customer of ASUS, largely because they made reliable, durable computers and had good warranties that they honored quickly. I will never buy from ASUS again, and will strongly urge you to go elsewhere. I bought this computer at the beginning of August, and having been responsible for five other ASUS computers before, and three motherboards, all of which have been great, I was quite excited.
Summary: Take care when you buy this product! After some time the touchpad becomes crazy, and does not move anymore. When you tell it after to the Asus Customer service, they simply ignore your advice that this is a hardware problem (A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, just check on Youtube!!!). They did automatic tests and changed nothing. So I have to send it back AGAIN and lose more time without beeing able to use the product. I had the same problem with the Acer aspire one !!
