Summary: I purchased this netbook about two years ago; the large screen (for a netbook) and fullsize keyboard are nice and it has better specs than most other netbooks which were available at the time. The main problem with this machine is that it now overheats every other two days or so and has to be shut down until it has cooled down. It appears ASUS did not equip this netbook with an adequate cooling system. I will be avoiding ASUS products from now on.
Summary: Bought the Asus eee PC 1201N in May of 2010. Started having problems with the netbook suddenly shutting down on its own around June/July of this year. I finally got tired of it and contacted the Asus Tech Line this week. After trying different reboot fixes was told that the laptop must have a hardware problem and I should send it in for repair. I had to search for the phone numbers for Asus repair locations myself since the tech rep didn't have them.
Summary: The netbook, which I got, worked for first 15 minutes and then it became absolutely frozen! I tried to make it work for 1.5 hours. No result. I sent it back and spent $21 for returning the Netbook.
Summary: This was a good netbook while it lasted but it has some serious durability issues. If you do a quick google search, you'll notice that many people have had issues with the DC charging port breaking on the computer. Mine lasted just over a year before it finally broke and would not charge anymore. Unfortunately, I am now outside of my warranty and won't be buying another Asus computer anytime soon.
Summary: Do not waste your money. This netbook is the biggest piece of garbage. This is my 2nd one and within 5 weeks, the battery is not working again. The first one I received, the battery stopped working within a few hours. Amazon sent a replacement, this one after a month, battery plugged is plugged in, but says plugged in, not charging. Reviewed feedback by many other - same problem.
Summary: This netbook is not for anyone looking to use the internet. In particular, if you are interested in Skyping (this thing can't support a video feed), using iTunes (I am talking, just USING the program, not even storing your music on the computer itself, YouTube (forget about viewing OR downloading anything) or even browsing the web with multiple tabs open for more than 30 minutes...you will be disappointed. This computer is useful for...nothing.
Summary: I bought this due to the dual core and ION. I had an Intel SSD that I wanted in this but due to the poor design you have completely take the netbook apart just to swap the hard drive which voids the warranty. Well I took a chance and performed surgery on this to replace the pathetic 5400 rpm drive with my SSD. All ran very well for a couple of months now for some reason the Netbook locks up at the BIOS.
Summary: I got this for two reasons 1. Dual Core Atom 2. Ion GPU I booted up the netbook which took sometime, I didn't time it but from initial power up/configuration I'm estimating close to an hour. Once logged in Win 7 Home was slow and there was a lot of bloatware installed, trail versions of this that and the other thing. If you stick with Windows I highly recommend just reloading the OS to clean up the mess.
Summary: Actually ended up with three of the same netbooks. The first two arrived due to a screwup in the ordering process. Sent one back as I only needed one. Second one froze up almost immediately when I attempted to add my internet protection software. Returned it and received a third one. Kept that for one week and returned it when I discovered it would not run at all without being connected to AC. I need a PC that has at least four hours of battery life.
Summary: I could not even use the product. As soon as I tried to boot, it showed a bug and won't work. All the solutions ask for a boot with a system disk to solve the problem. Once it does not come with a boot disk I payed almost USD 500 for a deluxe paper weight on my desk.
