Summary: Small, light, screen has a super high quality, frame with good quality, fast enough to use internet, watch movies, and great if you would like to have Microsoft office and use word and power point. I am a scientist and can run my presentation files and papers everywhere, just carrying it in my purse. I am very happy with my purchase!!!
Summary: I had been searching for an alternative to toting my 5.5 lb laptop to client meetings and the courses I teach at business school for some time. The weight plus the bulkiness of the wheeled case in which I transported my computer made it increasingly clear I had to do something different. I considered a tablet, but A) did not want to switch to a MAC platform and B) was not interested in anything that would not work with business applications as it primary focus.
Summary: Had the 1016P for a few months now. I travel to Europe frequently and it is the computer that goes with me. I have a couple of Lenovo's (510/520) but they do not have near the battery life and are huge in comparison. I added a small (64GB)SSD and still have room for 12-15 movies. The battery life seems better with the SSD, but I do not have any hard data on how much it is extended over the spinner.
Summary: There are already enough detailed reviews of Asus products. I am sure you can get a lemon or a bad vendor that gives you aggravation. The Asus computers when all goes well are excellent. I bought this one to replace a damaged unit that I use for work purposes. I loved the software and hardware update, good package. So this unit is heavy duty by comparison to the consumer level Asus products. The hinges for the screen are much better than there consumer line.
Summary: I am so pleased with my netbook. I did a lot of research before I decided to buy this one. I manage a Cafeteria & wanted something that would be smaller & lighter in weight to use than my currant laptop. This one is perfect for me. It has enough ram & storage for all my work. Of course the screen is smaller than your normal laptop, but I love the fact the battery last so much longer then my currant (Toshiba) laptop.
Summary: I bought this for a trip to Asia and it performed flawlessly. It is a great machine, really powerful, fast; amazing connectivity wherever I went in Asia. Sharp clear screen made up a lot for size. Definitely an external mouse made a huge difference I couldn't get use to the pad. No regrets at all, I am actually buying a second one for my wife.
Summary: Wow, it's smaller and thinner than I imagined but that's a good thing- so far. The black color has a light brushed metal texture. You can barely see fingerprints or smudges unlike the flat shiny types. The printed material on this netbook is very thin. There was no "quick start" or "before you begin" material either. I did read it requires I do a full 8 hour charge on the battery before regular use. It's charging right now. I'm excited.
Summary: I purchased this unit to take with me on an emergency trip to the UK due to a death in the family. I needed something lightweight to travel with for email, web surfing and simple word processing. It performed flawlessly straight out of the box. Additionally, I used it for video conferencing (via Google Chat) with my spouse. This was from a WiFi hot spot at a cafe with no issues.
Summary: I just recently purchased this little Asus for my wife to use. It came pre-loaded with Windows 7 and because the 1016P-BU17-BK is new from Asus, it came loaded with lots of goodies, like 3.0 usb, a faster and more reliable processor, standard with 2 mg ram and Win 7. I also own a Asus PC 1000 I've used for three years and this new netbook has a much better look and the keyboard is much more solid than what I have on my 1000.
