great value for money if you are OK with not having some fancy feaures...

Summary: It has been a year since I purchased this laptop and since than it has been heavily used as our main computer at home. Since it has been discontinued for sometime, there is no point writing a review for this product however I would like to share my experiences (both the joy and the frustration) with those who own and that is why I am writing this review... What I like: -Excellent price at the time.
Summary: Regret purchasing this. Touchpad is a mess, certain programs (like gestures) quit working intermittently. The resolution on the screen is terrible and makes things difficult to read despite the size. Battery has not shown the correct charge level almost as long as I have had it and has an incredibly short life. Assumed the machine would be quality since it was made by Asus, but I guess their standards are slipping.
Summary: The wife overall is happy with this computer though she has had a few glitches with it. Overall not bad for the price. If you want great sound pick a different laptop because this does not have it.
Summary: I bought this PC in June, HDD broke on august, since it was an open warehouse deal there wasn't a warranty, so I replaced it, 2 months later, during a boot up, bios (now called UEFI), got stuck in HDD boot. After saving UEFI boot configuration, PC was shutdown and UEFI was lost, any how , I took it to ASUS service, but they said they didn't know how to recover messed up bios, so I requested a new motherboard, but they wouldn't sell to me!.
Summary: Windows eight is definitely for touch screen. Time will tell if if this thing matches up with my past Dell purchases. Keyboard and touch pad have sensitivity issues that are a pain. I get around most of it with a wireless mouse. I'm afraid there won't be a next time for ASUS.
Summary: This is definitely a great laptop for gaming. I play Skyrim and Sims 3 and I can put them at pretty high quality levels (only with the charger plugged in though!) This laptop also has a lot of storage. I would give this a 5 star, but what's stopping me is the fact that mine has windows 8 on it. My dislike of windows 8 is another story though.
Summary: My computer randomly shuts down without warning or reason, I contacted asus support and they made me reset it to the original setting (loosing all my installed software, some of which I had to pay for new licences) but it did not solve the problem.
Summary: Got this laptop for my teenage son to cover all his education/gaming needs (plays mostly strategy games), downgraded to Windows 7 without any problems. During the downgrading process there is only one thing raised questions - how to convert HDD from GBR HDD partitioning system to MVR (there are lots of internet blogs explains it). ASUS website have all the native drivers for this laptop? compatible with win 7 so there is no problem on this side.
Summary: Great laptop so far. Installed Linux easy enough, although it through me for a few loops. Keyboard layout is clean, minimal, but fully functional with the number pad on the right. Love how it feels as I type.
