Summary: It is a laptop with most of the bells anyone is looking for. One big problem I see with this laptop is its touch pad. It is very annoying and hard to control. You lost the click buttons and the touch pad is not even 2% comfortable than the traditional pad with buttons. I ended up getting a wireless mouse but it is not what you want from a laptop. Yes I saw someone posting about getting the pad oily and all that, At this point I am short of pouring some oil on it.
Summary: I purchased it about 15 days and I'm more than happy with this ASUS laptop. I think that 8GB of max RAM is a limitation but I bought and additional 8GB module and plus the 4GB stock, it has now 12GB of RAM and works flawlessly. I like to install Linux on my computers and can install Arch Linux and Ubuntu without problems.
Summary: this is a very good computer. and for the price i think that i stole it. the processor is very fast, and the amount of ram that it came with was acceptable, but i would recommend adding at least another 4 gig strip. i play skyrim on this all the time and i have no lag or any kind of problems. great computer!
Summary: Its pretty, I'll give it that. Runs on windows 8 but did not come with the product key so I can't use any of the features. I tried to download windows open but it is not working. I got this for school, and its the one thing I can't use it for. I like cam. It has s clear screen and a 10 key so that's a plus. Shipping was quick. I'd have given 5 stars if I would have received the product key.
Summary: This computer would be way better if it did not come with Windows 8. Aside from that, it's good, the track pad is OK, it's fast; it has not frozen on me yet in the week I've had it. It's pretty basic but does the job quickly.
Summary: I bought this item based on the price, which was low due to the red color not being a popular choice with customers and due to the mostly favorable reviews. (the red is actually nice looking) Right now I'm using my Macbook to write this review because the asus is sitting right next to me with a message that says, "Media test failure, check cable" "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media, bla bla bla...
Booting error after 6 months and no recovery media available at all
Y Bobs, Amazon
13 October 2013
Summary: I got this Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device infinite loop and contacted ASUS. According to them, hit F9 key is the only thing I can do and if it fails, no other means to trouble shoot. Also there is no recovery media available so I have to send it to service center. FeDex fee is free, but finding a proper box and packing material is up to you. This is the first time I ever bought a computer from a manufacture other than HP or Dell or Toshiba.
Summary: I have been happy with this laptop, especially for the price. Lots of bang for the buck. I really don't use Windows 8 much, but the good news is that you can still use Windows 7-like features. I did have one scare when there was some sort of error that resulted in no response to anything. I unplugged, re-booted, etc. I ultimately Googled the error message (which was in a black DOS screen) to help me get it back up and running, which eventually worked after a few tries.
