Pros: Fast Shipping and Return for free. Replaced hard drive quickly.
Cons: Relatively Useless after hardware replacement. I purchased extended warranty from New Egg. The hard drive went bad and they replaced it quickly and installed Windows. Unfortunately, they did not replace it with all the ASUS drivers or do a factory (ASUS) install. I now have to install all that myself and can't find my recover/restore discs. What a pain?
Summary: I overwrote the OS with Linux, which went smoothly, and the machine has been completely reliable. There are plenty of ports. The only odd thing has been that DVDs don't play, though that isn't a great need.
Summary: First, let me brief you on what I've previously owned: Windows 98 bulky Gateway desktop, upgraded to HP Pavilion Windows Vista dv6000 120 GB laptop(that was an utter nightmare), then temporarily downgraded to a Windows XP 18GB Sony Vaio laptop (also awful).
Pros: Well built, fast, efficient, light-weight, lots of space, not laggy, attractive-looking, ice-cool technology works
Summary: I really like this computer. It's taking some getting used to, but I like it. The only thing I am having trouble with is, the mouse pad is left of center (centered under the letters). There is a 10 key to the right.
Summary: Looking for a great deal on a laptop. Was going to buy the newer laptop model (Asus). Then I saw this one. I was going to buy this one first. But, I was a little afraid being second hand. Well, with a all the cool things that this laptop had it was no contest. This model is awesome. I couldn't not believe the picture. It so sharp and clear. And this laptop is fast. I have downloaded free games from EB games. And I tell you what. They looked awesome and played very well.
Summary: I looked for the cheapest, best laptop I could find since this is for my son. He has gone through four laptops in seven years of college. I consider laptops consumable. I was pleasantly surprised when this arrived. It actually might be the best, (and cheapest) one yet I've found. He needs Internet access and Word. It is a good, basic computer for a college student who is hauling it all over the USA. Enough RAM and hard drive for his needs. Portable and thin.
Summary: I got this laptop for my mother for Christmas, and within one week of her opening it and learning to use it, it stopped working. Considering it basically sat on her desk and was only lightly used to get e-mails and browse the Internet a few times, I'm completely at a loss as to why this would happen (and I've been working on computers for over ten years). I will say that it worked pretty well for the few hours of life the poor thing had on this Earth.
Summary: So I bought a new A53E ASUS laptop on Black Friday which was delivered to me a few days later, in sealed and apparently undamaged original box. I got it for my folks and I left the laptop unopened in my closet until a few days ago that I opened the box for the first time and faced problems right out of the box: - The laptop's keyboard was hanging out and I had to reseat it myself. - Upon turning on the laptop, it got stuck at loading Windows.
