Nearly a year has passed since Apple released its updated 15-inch MacBook Pro, featuring a unibody aluminum construction, SD Card slot, and a longer-lasting lithium ion battery. Now, the Cupertino-based company has incorporated a few important upgrades under the hood to supercharge this elegant machine (starting at $1,799; $2,199 as configured). Read more

Apple's new entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro ups the battery life, adds a much-requested SD-card slot, and brings back the FireWire port, all at a lower price than its non-Pro MacBook predecessor. At $1,199, the new MacBook Pro is now more competitive with Windows notebooks, and it's a strong competitor in the thin-and-light notebook category, too. Read more

We’re always a little taken aback when we see Apple’s MacBook Pro in the hands of PC power users. For example, we’ve seen PC game developers typing on MBPs at industry events. And at trade shows, it isn’t uncommon to see Windows app developers sporting Apple’s pro-class portable. Are we far from the day when Bill Gates is a proud MacBook Pro convert? Read more

Changing to the Unibody Design made the already very good 17" MacBook Pro in practice even better - in every aspect. However, the irremovable battery and the small amount of ports might not bode well for newcomers. Compared to Windows laptops, the MacBook Pro 17 emerges as the most mobile 17 inch laptop in the world . Dimensions, weight, and battery life have never been reached in a desktop replacement before. Apple has marketed the next-generation MacBook Pro series as generally customizable to the consumer, and such is true with the various models that they offer with different features and price ranges. If the MC373LL/A is within your budget and you are ready to upgrade to the latest Intel Core i7 dual-core processing, then by all means consider this model. Not only does it have a larger hard drive, but it also features more NVIDIA graphics video memory. Read more

Mac haters, get ready to seethe. The MacBook Pro 15-inch isn’t just the best Mac around, it’s one hell of a PC. Even when running a non-native OS (Windows, that is), this Mac makes a mockery of its competitors in gaming tests and laps its rivals in battery life. Of course, there’s also OS X and Apple’s included suite of applications, which are top-notch. Read more

I purchased this computer late in 2011. I thought I might install Snow Leopard on it for the Rosetta compatibility. Just like the Apple Mac Mini MC815LL/A Desktop (NEWEST VERSION) it's a no go. I have the official Mac OS X version 10.6.3 Snow Leopard . I inserted the disc into the MacBook Pro, restarted, held OPTION key and selected the DVD for startup disc. I get the Apple logo and then every 5-10 seconds it gives 3 tones and won't go any further. Read more or see product

An IT guy who used PCs for over 15 years I was skeptical about owning a Mac. Then my sister bought one at Christmas, I played around with it and was sold. This machine is so far, better than any other notebook I've own (and I swear by ThinkPads). The OS is light so the fact that it's a 2.4 GHz duo-core (slower than the new i5 processor supposedly) you hardly notice. Read more

looking for a business computer, I originally wanted the newer Macbook Pro with the i5 / i7 cores. Unfortunately way outside my budget, but then I found the MacBook Pro 17" 2.8 ghz, 500 gig, 4 gig RAM in my budget range. I was hesitant at first, as I was not sure how last years MacBooks performed. After doing the research, I purchased the laptop. I am very happy with my purchase and recommend buying last years models if you can't afford the i5 or i7 cores. Read more
