Overheats - not worth the money.
2 July 2014
Summary: Pros: Looks pretty and I like the OS. Cons: Overheats with mild use. Have had various parts (LCD panel, power cord and logic board) melt from the heat this this puts out and I've even burned my left hand. I bought the extended warranty and the machine has been repaired probably 5 times by now and it still overheats from moderate use. Do not buy this machine if you want it for anything but photo/music editing or browsing the internet. It does not multitask well.
Summary: The computer arrived without paperwork or a packing slip, only a slip of paper with the tech help contact email. It arrived warped (rocks slightly on a flat surface), has minor scratches and needed complete operating software updates. Additionally, when I emailed for tech support, of which I am entitled to 90 days, I received no reply. The laptop itself works fine and I am enjoying my first Mac, despite these issues.
Summary: And in all fairness, I only had this laptop a short time. It was my first Apple laptop purchase. I've had an I-phone for years and am a huge fan. But when I received this laptop, it was much heavier than I expected it to be and It was very confusing to set up initially. It kept forcing me through all these menus before I could use it. I'm so used to the plug and play usability of most Apple products and I did not experience that with this laptop.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE GO BUY A PC FOR 1/2 of the price
3 June 2012
Summary: you are definitly overpaying for a mac and especially this one here. 2600 for a computer with 4gb of ram and 500 gb of space it is definitly not worth it, go ahead and buy a pc and save yourself some money!
Summary: I was very happy with my 17" Macbook Pro, it was fast and the operating system is a treat, but after several hardware failures I no longer consider it a worthwhile purchase. The keyboard has failed, the original battery split wide open at the seams, and the DVD drive stopped working for reading and writing DVDs. The laptop was repaired under warranty. but now after the 90 "warranty" on those repairs has passed the DVD drive has again failed.
Summary: I spend almost $ 2500 in my mac book pro (17"). I also bought a time capsule. Now I've been using it for 13 months already. Before that I used to have a PC. Today I think some issues are good and some are not. Among the good things I can say it is light and it works fine in the way it is intended to.
Summary: Great. It is fast for music programs. For Ableton it beats anything else. But unfortunately you have to out put up with other restrictive Apple policies. iTunes is a very poor quality music player and compresses your music so that 75% of the is lost file (quality is lost). You then need to download an alternative MP3 or WAV player that Apple makes it difficult to use.
