Out of production but still one of the best Apple Computers available

Summary: It is a shame Apple no longer makes a 17 inch Macbook pro. I have been using an 11" air book for just about everything. The difference in the screen size is amazing. Not an easy computer to travel with but it once there the screen size makes it worth the trouble. I also like the ability to upgrade/replace the drive and the memory something not easily done in the new MacBooks.
Summary: I went to 16GB Ram and its fabulous. I can only imagine what the new desktop model must do. The fans come on on this model too. I hate the scratch potential for these. But it looks great. Its very difficult to get it to project to a monitor through the thunderbolt. But once you do its pretty cool. Don't upgrade it past 10.8.3 unless someone you know has done it. Or you can do it before you start working on it to prevent disaster from occurring with your data.
Summary: This macbook is sweet! love it! works flawlessly. software needed upgrading, but the upgrades were free! I absolutely love the big screen! did I say I love it! my son will be using it for music and video production. perfect desktop replacement! did I say I love it! great price!
Summary: I've had one of these before and changed to a 15 in Macbook Pro Retina. I missed the screen size of the 17 in. model so went back to this one. Have not regretted it. Same processor and RAM. Larger Hard Drive. Just no Retina display which does not matter for me.....
Summary: In the age of tablets, smart phones, and netbooks, large screen laptop computers have been in decline; in fact, Apple quietly dropped the 17-inch MacBook Pro from its lineup more than a year ago. But that doesn't mean this isn't a great computer. It may be six years old, but it's still got a lot of life in it, especially this particular unit, which has been upgraded with a 500GB hard drive.
