Great, fast machine. Shoddy workmanship

Excerpt: OK I confirm what everybody knows. These machines are fast with long battery life, etc... But the case creaks sonorously on the right hand side when carried or sometimes just when applying some pressure around the trackpad. And the spacebar has an extra click. What is unbelievable is that I bought this machine less than a month ago, some two years after they were introduced and Apple had ample time to correct these annoyances. But no.
Summary: This computer is excellent, but I was disappointed to open it up and see that the liquid damage indicators had been triggered. I couldn't see any sign of corrosion, but this still means I can't get any warranty on this computer.
Summary: Lessons: 1. Use Time Machine consistently... as in "often", and 2. Spring for AppleCare during your warranty period. The old Macbook Pros were troopers. I recently sold my mid-2011 with a core2duo, and never had a problem with it. I never needed to, but I could replace the harddrive. I could upgrade RAM... These new ones? No way. The 512 GB SSD is $1000 by itself to replace. The cheapest thing to replace on this thing is the display, at $600. It's a great laptop...
Pros: Thin and fairly light considering the components it packs. Very fast, great for running multiple VMs for development, testing, etc. Display is beautiful, battery life is pretty good given the i7 output and screen resolution (I opted for the faster i7). Seems high quality.
Cons: Unreliable. Just got mine back from the Genius Bar today after dropping it off last week. The SSD died.... after FOUR WEEKS. The Apple Store didn't have a replacement, so I had to wait a few days before one was available.
Summary: The reason Apple rose to a prominent position was because they used to have great customer service. I bought a half a dozen of their high end computers over the years but now I am totally dissatisfied. I paid over 3K for the features of y MacBook and the cord was so cheap that comes with this that it frayed, cracked and they refused to replace it for me. I can't believe it.
Excerpt: The screen is extremely neat. A definite upgrade from my old 13" 2011 Macbook pro. The only complaint is the wifi issue. Sitting in the same room right next by each other, my old 13" macbook pro can load webpages much faster than this one. It is truly surprising and upsetting. Going onto speedtest, this computer does not even load the page (takes ~3 minutes) properly. On the contrary, my 13" macbook pro loads the page in seconds and shows my internet speed.
Summary: The screen is fantastic, and that's why you're looking at this product. However, be warned: the battery life doesn't last anything near the 7-hours claimed. This is an authentic Apple Macbook Pro with Retina Display, and runs at high speed. Maybe that's why the battery sucks.
Summary: When I opened the pack, I found the inner machine seal(factory white seal) is broken, that means, someone opened it before. Fortunately, the battery cycle count is 1. I hope I could buy it only 2 days later, because other seller offered additional 50$ discount. I didnot make a refund because I have to pay for return postage costs. Since it is apple's perfect product, I give 3 stars.
Summary: I really wanted to love this machine. Its form factor is perfect, battery life long, and screen big enough for full-time use. However, I returned it after a week and a half because my eyestrain from this machine was absolutely unbearable. It was like someone drilled through my eyes and I could feel the pain even in the morning, waking up after a good night's sleep. I checked the Apple forums, and sure enough, I'm far from the only person to have this issue.
Summary: For me this laptop was an important upgrade from my relatively old 13" MacBook Air. It is much faster and the screen is almost perfect for photograph edition. The illuminated keyboard is an important feature for me specially when I use it on dark environments. The only bad thing is the MagSafe power connector. It was a big surprise for me see how easily can be disconnected so I have to reconnect very very often.
