Summary: I love the ease of use as with all apple products, however, have had 2 hard drive failures and a track pad that needed to be replaced. Would expect that for the price, it would be more reliable. I would not purchase a macbook pro again. Thank god for time machine back up!
Summary: I have had Macs for years, and have always been happy with them, but this new version of MacBook Pro, and the new OS Mountain Lion is a lemon! If you plan to connect to the internet via wireless, you are in big trouble with this computer. The Macbook Pros have a fatal flaw in that they cannot reliably open and maintain a connection to the internet on any wireless router that has WEP security.
Summary: I've owned a bunch of Macs over the last four years, switching over after 20 or so years of PCs. Initially, I loved my 13" Macbook Pro and vowed never to go back to PCs. With my new 15" Macbook Pro, I still won't go back to PCs and in general I really like my Mac, but I no longer love it. I have the new 2012 edition with 750 MB hard drive and 8 GB of RAM. It's quite fast but doesn't seem any where near as fast as it should be based on its rated speed.
Excerpt: This laptop looked pretty good to me when I observed it in an apple store in a mall close to where I live, I even recommended it to a cousin of mine that was searching for something comfortable. However I was very dissapointed when I took it home. It scratched easily, the keyboard was extremely uncomfortable and it was just plain confusing to work with! The only thing beneficial that came out of it was the fact that it didnt get dirty very easily and it looked good.
Excerpt: I had a Mac Book Pro for about a year. While it did all the things I wanted it too for the most part, it would slow down and be annoying just like any other laptop. Sure, the flashy features like the multi-touch trackpad are nice, but not when that trackpad becomes unresponsive and the whole thing doesn't work. It's not very compatiable with outside Apple products. I have two other laptops and 4 other bluetooth devices and in total it only reacts to 2 of them.
Summary: I have been looking into getting a new laptop and have been considering the MacBook Pros. When I heard that the new models had just come out and had retinal displays, I went to the apple store for an in-person look. The models retain the beautiful brushed aluminum bodies but thinner and the new display is amazing. Then, I noticed there was no optical drive and no Ethernet port. Both features I use heavily. I went home after working with the unit some more.
Summary: Recently, I decided to take the plunge and purchase a new MacBook Pro to replace my 2006 Black MacBook. The new MacBook 2.3ghz - 15.4" is fine as laptop computers go. I don't need the "Retina" model and would never buy one. My display is almost too bright and sharp as it is. The display is beautiful even without "Retina". The MacBook Pro Retina display models also eliminate the DL-DVD player/burner, the Ethernet connection and the FW800 port.
