Things wer not as they seemed.
2 September 2012
Summary: This seemed to be a good buy but when I got a close look at it I found that repairs were very expensive and hard to do. I would never puchase such an item again. I really lost big on this one. I will probably get it fixed but it will cost me a large amount.
Summary: seeing many reports like mine of lcd failure from SLIGHTEST trauma . . . and cracked screens are not covered by warranty (even extended!) Fixing this (model 1369) costs ~ $600! I too was thrilled at first but now at 11 months disappointed.
WARNING: This model is fraught with catastrophic hinge breaks

Summary: This model was really nice when they were new, but I found out, the hard way, that you would be better off with a newer model. These original 2008 Macbook Air (MacbookAir1,1) have a compact "iPod" hard drive and they go bad after a few years. My drive was going out and I decided to upgrade mine with a $320 solid state drive (SSD), again, an odd size, not compatible with other computers, just this model. After the upgrade, it was working great, then catastrophe struck.
Summary: UPDATE---(on bottom) Conceptually and on paper, this machine is awesome. After using it for about a month or so, it was still awesome. It is very snappy, and the trackpad is amazing compared to any other trackpad I have used. The display is not perfect (gradient mountains near the edge of the screen due to varying 'tightness' of the bezel), but decent for being on a laptop. They keyboard is backlight, adding value during use at night.
Summary: YOU KNOW WHAT ???!!!! I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR FORF 3 DAYS AND I HAVE BEEN STOPED AT EVERY TURN !!! I HAVE EXPLAINED MYSELF 100 TIMES ONLY TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE NEXT NON ENGLISH SPEAKING IDIOT ONLY TO END UP WHERE I STARTED FROM. I KNOW ITS PRETTY CLEAR THAT YOU DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ME OR I IMAGINE ANY OTHER SMALL POTATOES BUT YOU KNOW WHAT ??? IVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON EBAY ...BUT GUESS WHAT ??
Summary: After battling Windows Vista, I went out and bought three more Macs. A Macbook Pro, a Mac Mini and a Macbook Air. A year and a half later I've learned my lesson. Despite their advertising, they are not very well made. Despite the hype, the operating system is quirky. They don't play well with otherwise stellar products like Logitech mice and they don't last. Why didn't I get a clue when, of two old Powerbooks, one had the motherboard replaced TWICE.
Laptop sold with bad hard drive -- seller didn't care

Summary: I received the computer following payment. When I attempted to load the latest OS, I received an error that the hard drive was failing and that I needed to back up my information before it completely failed. Since I didn't have any data on the hard drive I proceeded to erase the hard drive and install the new OS. However, the hard drive error turned into a SMART error with the message that the hard drive needed to be replaced.
Summary: We purchased a Macbook Air two years ago and unfortunately it was a lemon right out of the box. Almost immediately there were problems with pixels on the screen going out in large vertical bands, over-heating, sluggish performance. We purchased it for our son to use during extended travel in China, reasoning that the light weight would be a plus in these circumstances. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't have any service in China so he was unable to get the problems fixed.
