Summary: I had a previous model acer aspire that I liked - 4 stars at least - this one disappoints - of course windows 8 still seems like garbage a month after buying it....just get windows 7. Keys have gotten cheaper feeling - it not easy to tell if you have successfully pressed a key. The touch screen is really not a big deal not usefull.
Summary: Overall this is a nice laptop for the money. The screen is big and bright and I'm surprised at how well the touch screen works. It works nicely with Windows 8. Just upgraded to 8.1 with no issues. Some minor quibbles: it's a shame they put the Core i7 with the 5400 rpm hard drive. Clearly that's the limiting component.
Summary: Pros: Mostly fast, touchscreen makes for some nice touches such as a touch password and easy navigation when moving a mouse is too laggy. Backlit keyboard comes in real handy. Can handle programs pretty fast. Cons: Touchpad is a bit on the bad side, sometimes the PC lags, the feel of the laptop can be a bit cheap as it is made with plastic and not metal. I will sometimes be typing and it jumps several lines for no apparent reason.
Summary: I'm a big fan of Acer and have converted both my personal systems and those at my office to this brand. I'm not as well-versed with Windows 8.1, as I've run Windows 7 everywhere else, but it's the OS and a couple of small design quirks that have lowered the rating I've given. This laptop isn't something that's put to use every day, but I've noticed each time we've used it, we have to wait for all of the system updates to be completed.
Summary: Terrible for gaming, the i5 and intel hd graphics make for a bad combo. Better for everyday use and stuff like watching videos, or surfing the internet. You can get a much better laptop for less than this.
Excerpt: I bought this laptop because my others weren't working properly anymore. I thought long and hard about what laptop to buy, I wanted one that worked well and wasn't too expensive. Everyone in my surroundings said not to buy an Acer because they don't work as well. I've had this laptop for three weeks now and it works great. It's light weighted and thin, so it doesn't take up too much space.
Pros: great money's worth
Cons: no real instruction manual, touch pad a little too big .
