  • Cons: Display not very bright, Black level & contrast leave to be desired, Viewing angles limited, Battery takes very long to charge, Location of USB ports less than ideal, A brighter display with better contrast and higher resolution.

  • Pros: Compact, stiff magnesium chassis, Great tactile feedback and key travel, Smooth and effortless mouse buttons, Docking port, 3 x USB 3.0, Rare: ExpressCard/34, Useful security and admin tools, Good battery life, Good gaming performance, Solid performance, Low power consumption, Affordable price, Rigid and solid magnesium case. Input devices offer good feedback. Docking port for Acer ProDock. Removable multi-bay drive.
  • Cons: low contrast, small viewing angles, so-so TFT brightness, slow hard drive, long charge time of four hours, series doesn't offer a lot of configuration options

  • Conclusion: Die Frage zu Beginn des Tests, ob ein Travelmate einem Thinkpad das Wasser reichen könne, war nicht nur rhetorischer Natur. Für einen kleinen Preis hat Acer eine Art Low-Cost-ThinkPad zusammengestellt. Das heißt: Während Lenovo unzählige Konfigurationsoptionen zu entsprechend höheren Preisen anbietet (z. B. HD+ Display, SSD, Core i7), gibt es bei Acer nur die Standard-Ausrüstung . Aber die hält, was sie verspricht.
  • Pros: Kompaktes, steifes Magnesium-Chassis, knackiger Druckpunkt und Tastenhub, leichtgängige, bewegliche Maustasten, Docking Port, 3 x USB 3.0, Selten: ExpressCard/34, nützliche Sicherheits- und Admin-Tools, gute Laufzeiten, gute Spiele-Performance, stabile Rechenleistung, geringer Stromverbrauch, günstiger Preis
  • Cons: geringe Kontraste, kleine Blickwinkel, mäßige TFT-Luminanz, Mono-Lautsprecher, langsame Festplatte, lange Akku-Ladezeit von vier Stunden, Kaum Konfigurations-Optionen der Serie
