Not thrilled....

Sue the business owner, Staples
3 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Overall disappointed. I didn't intend to get a touch screen. I needed to replace a laptop. I had a price, size and weight parameters. My local STAPLES is convenient with a great staff. The ASPIRE gets high ratings and the sale was right. I do not like the touchscreen. If your hand passes near it, it changes. The mousepad is erratic in the touch as well. We're all used to adapting to mousepads with little adjustment. Everyone that has used this laptop has a problem.
  • Pros: Good Value, Professional Weight, Sharp Tones & Colors
  • Cons: Touch Aspects Are Uneven, Win 8 Is Not Easy To Use

processing speed is slow

SC, Staples
2 January 2014
  • Excerpt: It is light weight. It has a touch screen and you can update the operating system to Windows 8.1. If you don't care about the speed of loading a web page, otherwise this is a good product.

decent netbook w touch screen

Bravo Bull, Staples
5 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought this to have a small lightweight netbook with touch screen that I could take anywhere around the house. It met this criteria well. Unfortunately, the Windows 8 OS is slow and clunky and not very intuitive. This is a problem with the OS and not the machine itself. I would have preferred this in an Android flavor. I suspect that would have shaved the price a little as well. If you're a Windows/XP user, not all the settings are the same.
  • Pros: Good Value, Slim And Light
  • Cons: Uses Windows 8

Good computer for casual user

DocGuy, Staples
26 September 2013
  • Excerpt: This is a pretty good little computer, especially for the price. I love the touchscreen, and Windows 8 is great with the touchscreen. (I have another laptop with a Windows 8 upgrade, but no touchscreen, and after only one day of use of the Acer, I find myself frustrated with non-touch laptops.) The computer has a port that is identical to the mini display port you find on Mac computers, but Acer says they won't guarantee compatibility with other adapters and monitors.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy to Use, Lightweight, Touchscreen
  • Cons: Battery life, Custom Display Port, Slow

Acer Timeline X was better...

Vladimir Sukalovic, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: Three years ago, I purchased same size, Acer Timeline X laptop. I was completely satisfied with it, so I decided to go again with Acer and buy same size laptop, with faster CPU, more RAM and bigger hard disk. What I expected is - same size, same weight, same battery life and improved speed. What I got is more speed, but battery life is shorter, laptop is considerably hotter and sometimes it gets very hot, on the left side.
