Summary: This is one of the best laptops you could find on the market with this price tag(999$) and the laptop is quite impressive.I had my doubts about this laptop before buying it due to acers negative image but so far i love it. GTX 760,i7 and 120 GB SSD. Cons : -Unlike the description laptop has a ComfyView not Cane crystal but still its a gorgeous 17.3 1080p display -Windows 8 and yes its that bad I cant say much about this laptop since i just bought it but i will write a...
Summary: Since the Samsung NC-10 netbook I purchased about 4-5 years ago was struggling to perform even the most basic tasks, I decided a new laptop was in order. I compared quite a few makes and models before deciding on the Aspire, which provided one of the best feature-to-cost ratios of the lot. I've had it for around 2 months now and I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase. PRO: -Screen size.
Summary: The specs of this laptop are pretty awesome for the price. Here's basically everything I know about this laptop from personal experience: - UEFI support (with and without SecureBoot) works well with Windows 8 and 8.1, along with Ubuntu (and variants except Kubuntu) 13.04 and 13.10. Does not boot Windows 7's installer in UEFI mode (lock up on boot animation). - The included Windows 8 product key is for Core, and not Professional.
Summary: The last couple of laptops I've bought had hot spots that made it difficult to use on my lap (yeah, I know I shouldn't really do that). But this laptop remains cool to the touch and is comfortable to use on my lap. The fan is whisper quiet. Fast to wake, since I leave it powered on, but asleep when not in use. No issues with the wireless that others have reported. I deducted one star because the shiny lid is a fingerprint magnet.
Summary: good battery life - about 4 hours solid. bit bulky. windows 8 may work better with touch screen, however the drawback of the last acer (that I returned) was the that the touchscreen drained the battery. In that regards, this acer works great.
Summary: The computer itself is very nice. Good looking, perfect size. The keyboard flows very smoothly, which is awesome for a fast typist like me. I had to disable the touch pad though since it was too sensitive. (I prefer the mouse anyway.) It's fast enough and has plenty of space to add more software. I had an issue with the sound quality for about a month until I realized the Dolby Home Theater was set to off.
Summary: I've had mine for a little over a week now and I think it's great so far but, there are a few things that I thought some people should know about. I now wish I had the back lit keyboard however, the white on black keys are visible well enough from light from the screen. The Window's 8 takes some getting used to but seems easy enough to fumble you way through it.
Summary: Gaming ability - 3.9 stars Plays most games at medium to ultra settings. Planetside 2 will run on medium graphics during large combat after adding an additional 2 gigs of ram. will run on high settings when running around avoiding large battles.
Summary: Great hardware in an otherwise standard/boring laptop case. Can play many of the great games of yester-years as well as a few newer ones. If not for the annoyingly glossy finish and the lack of a volume control on the case this laptop would be a 5/5.
