Summary: First, let me say that Windows 8 is horrid. This is not the fault of Acer, but it makes the computer perform poorly. The problems I have encountered with this system have been related to Windows 8 and Microsoft issues. The computer itself performs as advertised. With an I7 processor, I had thought the computer would be faster. My last Acer had an AMD processor and was purchased in 2009 and was almost as fast as this one.
Summary: I've had this for around a month now and there's a couple things I do not like about it. The screen is not the same screen as in the description. It's matte, which is good for anti-glare but it just doesn't look that great in my opinion. The battery used to last around 2 and a half hours but now it lasts not even half that long on a full charge. I get around 1 hour now just from light to normal use, no gaming or anything heavy.
Summary: The overall laptop is great, the only issue I have with it is the trackpad for this laptop is a pain. It acts similar to a smartphone screen with different actions done by different touchpad gestures. Half the time though it does the complete opposite of what I want it to do. Trying to scroll down it hides my windows or goes back to the horrible metro screen, the clicking function could use some tweaking as well. Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are horrible though.
Summary: Bought this for a friend, everything works nice and it was a great deal, but there is a dead pixel on the screen that is very disappointing. I had expected better. He doesn't think it is worth the effort to send it back and talk to Customer Service about it, but he is less picky about such things than I am.
Summary: I used this computer for 3 days before sending it back. It has an amazing screen and a great keyboard. Biggest problem was installing drivers from acer's website completely bricked this thing. Maybe I got a bad one, but I sent it back because doing a complete system reboot twice in the first 3 days of owning a $1200 computer is a bit unnerving.
Summary: Pros: Nice full HD screen. Good price for the hardware. Extra drive bay and RAM slots for expansion. I put in an SSD and transfered the OS to it and it boots to an open web browser in 16 secs. Cons: Big and heavy (but you should know that). Battery life (also in specs). Sound is weak and tinny. For such a large box, they could have put in much better speakers. The trackpad is the worst I have ever used on any laptop.
Summary: If the adapter would have been AC it would get 5 eggs.
Pros: Fast, great screen resolution, lots of memory. Boots up real fast with the SSD drive. Nice keyboard.
Cons: I bought this model because Newegg advertised the Wifi adapter as 802.11 ac. It is not ac, it is an Atheros a/g/n + BT 4.0. Instead of the hassle of dealing with Newegg, I just installed an Intel 7260 ac half mini pci e adapter from my old Acer which I put in last month and put the original one back in the old Acer. That's why I docked it 2 eggs.
