Great machine at a good price

W. L., Newegg
21 January 2012
  • Summary: Bought this for my wife to attend school. Needed something that was light and could run on batteries for a long period.
  • Pros: Runs great, light weight easy to carry. Has performance I had hoped for and was at a good price. Came right up without problems.
  • Cons: None so far.

Awesome little lappy

Monica A., Newegg
5 January 2012
  • Summary: I actually have the the higher end version with the Nvidia GPU, I use this thing as a work PC AND a gaming rig, and it does a great job! Never thought I could get that in something this light with such good battery life. So far its more reliable than my old Alienware M11xR2
  • Pros: Light as heck. Fairly sturdy. Decent screen. Runs FOREVER on battery. Fast for a thin-n-light.
  • Cons: No backlit keyboard. I miss that from my last laptop. Speaker grill looks like a giant electric shaver screen.

Great Deal!

Victor L., Newegg
1 December 2011
  • Summary: 1. Be aware that this laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive. In case you wan to use a CD/DVD, you'll need to purchase an external drive, or you might wan to consider buying a larger version of this laptop (like 4830T). 2.
  • Pros: 1. Great speaker with Dolby Home Theater. I'm really surprised by the sound quality! 2. 4G RAM that is good for majority of end users 3. Processor capability does not disappoint me at all. 4. Although not as thin as ultrabooks, this laptop is a great deal for its price and is fairly thin comparin...

Awesome Purchase!

Felix L., Newegg
1 December 2011
  • Summary: -USB: one usb on the right side and 2 on the left side with one being a USB 3.0. The USB 3.0 doubles as a device charger; the laptop comes with a pre-installed program that allows you to charge your device while the laptop is sleeping or hibernating.
  • Pros: Looks: -Cobalt blue exterior fits my taste; with a slight glitter to it. -key board area is aluminum color; keys are black -the frame surrounds the keys well so that there is little to no space between the keys and the metal frame. Performance: -Webcam works as expected; the default setting has n...
  • Cons: None found yet. I'll update if anything comes up. Although, it would have been nice if it had just one more USB port; just a handy thing to have.

Perfect for the money!

Logan G., Newegg
22 August 2011
  • Summary: It's not a desktop replacement as I think some people want it to be. it is an "ultra portable". I went from an XPS 16 to this laptop. It's so much lighter and very fast. I upgraded to an SSD and 8GB of Ram the day I got it.
  • Pros: $700. Small. Can play games. Fast. Awesome battery life. It's awesome for the price when you compare it to what else is out there. It's one of the more high end mobile gaming cards and it plays everything I want. Great boot times and crazy light compared to what I am used to.
  • Cons: Nothing I did not expect from a 13 inch laptop. The keyboard flex I read about is not even noticeable for me.

gaming requires cooling

Elaine R., Newegg
15 August 2011
  • Summary: Other reviewers have stated the case seems flimsy and flexible but I do not find that to be an issue. The laptop is solid enough for regular use. non removable battery - I dont necessarily consider this a con but I do intend on replacing/upgrading the battery at some point in the future and I hope...
  • Pros: Graphics - Can run all current titles with adequate graphics settings; will be able to run future titles on low/med settings. Runs Starcraft 2 @ 1080p on my external monitor with med/high settings. Very Portable - For a laptop that can run games and is affordable it doesnt get any more portable t...
  • Cons: Cooling - Honestly I personally have not had a problem keeping the laptop cool but that because its sitting on my desk on a cooling pad. Also I bring the cooling pad with me when I take it other places. Its totally possible to use this laptop casually without requiring cooling thou it might get s...

Great for Mercury Playback Engine

Anonymous, Newegg
29 July 2011
  • Summary: Don't forget- no DVD drive (but it's a dying media storage format anyways) Random, but I like how the power cord is very long and has a right-angle connector No laptop outside of dedicated gaming companies is designed for gaming, so don't think it will (or complain when the laptop complains).
  • Pros: Powerful Nvidia GPU 96 CUDA Cores (or Stream Processors 2.9ghz TB Core i5 Sandy-bridge (seamless switching between GPU's) Great size & weight for power Good sized chiclet keyboard. (What's everyone's fascination with whether the keyboard flexes a bit when you push hard on it??) Screen is nice & b...
  • Cons: I'm having trouble thinking of Cons without looking OCD... Wouldn't mind a higher screen resolution (although I would be getting a'lil squinty)

Great!

Mike L., Newegg
22 July 2011
  • Summary: Reviews for other models note flexibility, i TOTALLY and wholeheartedly disagree. SO many other laptops i've had have more flex than this. I get no creaking of any kind, and the plastic between the keys only flexes a little and would not be noticed during typing.
  • Pros: I have been extremely happy with this laptop. It has all the modern features one might want, and newegg actually carries the models with bluetooth! No test on battery life yet, but installing windows 7 pro (business use) was no problem and drivers are nice and clean. Very snappy, video performanc...
  • Cons: Battery is NOT removable. We've been using acer laptops the last 2 years and have not had a single reason to replace a battery, so this is not a huge thing for me. They also provided a paper-clip-type poke hole for temporarily disconnecting the battery for hard reboots which is perfect and all i'...

Performance Exceeds Expectations

Jonny K., Newegg
10 July 2011
  • Summary: I purchase a new laptop every 8-10 months and found this to meet all my expectations and more. It runs noticeably faster than my previous generation Core i5 laptop and has given me about 7:30 of battery life per charge, two things I was looking for.
  • Pros: Size, weight, battery life, screen brightness/contrast, keyboard, selection of ports, dedicated graphics, cool while running, aesthetics. I won't list off the specifics of the pros sections as they're fairly self explanatory. Whatever connotations you think of with "good screen, good keyboard, et...
  • Cons: Speakers, chassis, somewhat poor viewing angles. I'm hesitant to list the speakers and chassis as negatives and I'll quickly explain why. First, the speakers sound very nice for a 13.3" laptop and I'm more than pleased with them. I list them as a con only because I've heard other slim and/or ligh...

Excellent

Anonymous, Newegg
9 July 2011
  • Summary: A lot of people have been complaining about heat, but I don't register any heating of the keyboard after playing Sins of a Solar Empire for ~2 hrs on max detail. The only part that gets warm is the fan on the side but that doesn't even touch any part of my body when in use and even then, it's not...
  • Pros: - Great mix of portability and power - Awesome sound - Powerful GFX for its size - Looks nice - Bright screen - Responsive keys - Very convenient size Gaming notes: Sins of a Solar Empire: smooth 40-50 FPS on 2x AA, max detail, about 120 ships on screen. BF2: smooth 35-60 FPS 4x AA, high detail -...
  • Cons: - Slight keyboard flex - Left side power, but right side headphone jack - A bit of bloatware, but that's expected
