Everything's good minus video
12 January 2011
Summary: This laptop has served me well in the past few months. It is lightweight and durable (from what I can tell so far... hasn't gotten damaged). SPEED: I don't do that much with the laptop. Mostly browsing the internet, watching videos, playing music, using Word, etc. I haven't really tested it with games. The laptop has almost never felt slow. When I played Portal, it lagged between levels, but didn't lag during levels. VIDEO: The monitor is good.
Summary: I originally purchased my machine from late August 2010 and so far i must say it is good value for money. I believe for its price range it has fairly decent specs and so far it can handle the demands i place on it. This thing is my work horse, I'm a university student so as anyone can imagine it works around the clock and so far it is pretty stable.
Summary: Pros: Thin and light for a computer of its size. Fast processor and great for multitasking. Sleek and stylish look. Nice large screen and clear images. Battery life is great. It handles my music, documents, pictures, and large programs with ease. It's not a Mac. Cons: I would have liked a back-lit keyboard. The camera isn't excellent. The fingerprints on the lid get annoying. The speakers are not very loud and they produce an odd sound.
Summary: This is my first laptop. I got it about 2 weeks ago. Getting it started with the wireless in my house was easy, but I have not taken it anywere yet. I tried taking it oustide on a nice day, but the glare on the screen was too bad. I love the 10 key pad, and it does not bother me that the keyboard sits a bit to the side. I have it mostly on my lap but have not noticed too much heat build up.
Summary: Note: Original review follows customer service update. -------------->>>>> 10/5/10 I did get the battery within 4 days of finally getting the "authorization." Apparently, patience pays! Here's what I am going through to get a spare battery: 1) Register the unit with Acer 2) Email customer support to request the battery, being sure to give the serial number 3) Receive an email back asking why you need a battery 4) Tell them why and request again 5) Receive an email...
Summary: As a trainee architect i needed a laptop with the power of a desktop. This fitted the bill perfectly, with it barely weighing anything and being ultra thin i could take it anywhere i went without feeling weighed down by it and still having room for drawings and my pencil case. Being able to run on a single charge for 8 hours was definitely a turning point in my decision.
Summary: UPDATE AS OF 28/02/11 Still no real issues with this laptop. I haven't had to contact Acer customer support so can't comment on that. Only thing that bugs me is the screen being so glossy. You have to have it at the perfect angle to view otherwise contrast/brightness and colours go way off. I've only had this laptop a couple of weeks so haven't really had chance to get to grips with it fully.
Summary: Für mich das ideale Gerät.
