Review Acer Aspire 4820TG (i7/HD 6550) Notebook

Notebookcheck
12 January 2011
  • Summary: Radeon Update. Acer equips the luxury version of its TimelineX with a 160 GB Intel SSD, a Core i7 and a brand new Radeon HD 6550. Will the 14 inch notebook add versatile performance with only just two kilograms of weight to your gear?
  • Pros: Good 3D performance for 14", Strong application performance, SSD 160 GB, Low system noise, Low waste heat, Low power consumption, Good battery runtimes, SSD speed and a lot of CPU power for a comparatively low-priced notebook.
  • Cons: TFT is reflective, TFT too dark for outdoors, Poor viewing angles, Few interfaces, Long battery recharge time, Poor keyboard feedback, Value for money would have been perfect with a higher contrast, matt and brighter display.

Acer Aspire 4820TG

  • Summary: This I am told will give you 12 hours of battery life, I never got beyond six hours or so, so I assume there are two battery combinations available. I did test it several times hence the slightly longer than normal review period.

Acer Aspire 4820TG notebook review

Pocket Lint
22 April 2010
  • Conclusion: Compact, well specced and fairly lightweight (just over 2kg), the Acer Aspire 4820TG makes a tempting proposal for those who want to travel and not compromise on performance too much. An obvious downside is the construction quality, with a little too much flex evident. We'd have like to have seen a more advanced switching graphics system too, but it's nice to have the option.
  • Pros: Fusion of power and portability, graphics power, trackpad is nice
  • Cons: A little too much flex at this price point
