Summary: I have to have a laptop with me always, if call comes in from work even nights and weekends. So when going out to dinner I just grab this little Aspire to stick in the car in case its needed. Fits well in my briefcase for airline trips as well. I replaced the harddrive with a SSD drive (good instructions can be found previously posted by other reviewers). So made it an "ultrabook" (well, sorta) with just a $150 SSD and a $17 CD with transfer cable.
Summary: I've had this laptop for over 1.5 years. The motherboard died 2 days before warranty ran out, ACER fixed it in about 2 weeks at no cost. I'm sure it would have been quite expensive if it died out of warranty. I did three upgrades: 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, and 5GHz capable 802.11n wifi card. Works perfectly so far. I looked into getting a 9-cell battery, but honestly, I can get almost a full day of battery life out of it, so there's no need.
Summary: This is one sweet little ultra compact laptop. Dropped in a SSD and it boots fully into windows in under 20 seconds. The size and weight are perfect for one handing it where ever you need to go.
Summary: I looked for a compact laptop, which can be used for software development, used to have a lenovo i7 before, which was good but very heavy. I found this laptop at a very reasonable price and ordered 2 of them for my company. That was a great choice, immediately as it arrived i removed the 4GB and put 8GB of RAM instead, and I use it as a heavy development station, with Java, web, huge number of windows and browsers open, running a database web server (Xampp) and also...
Summary: Length:: 9:53 Mins I'm a photojournalist who looked long and hard to find a new laptop. I need a computer I can leave in the car trunk or carry in a fanny pack while shooting assignments, so it has to be tough, compact and powerful. The Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T-68U118 solved the problem of cramming near-desktop power into a Netbook-sized package. I've only had it for a few weeks, but here are my impressions: EXTERIOR: 1. Not as pretty as a Macbook Air, but what is?
Summary: Fairly straighforward process to replace the 500GB HDD with a new solid state drive using a small USB thumb drive and backup and restore utilities along with a USB HDD enclosure to externally connect the original 500GB HDD containing the created backup image for the new SSD drive installed in the laptop. The web has a few threads on how to do this. With the upgrade, windows 7 boots in 20 seconds and the laptop weighs even lighter and is immune to drops and shocks.
Summary: I cant believe how critical some people are on previous reviews. The trackpad on the PC is completely fine I have no problems at all using it. It is a little small but not a big deal at all. The keyboard on the pc is also great for the size of the pc the keys are really big and it is very easy to type on. There are not too many notebooks out there that have the power of this one in the size of a netbook. Buy this one you wont be disappointed.
Summary: I have a quadcore computer at home, so i chose this laptop for its size. this laptop has exceeded my expectations. i have succesfuuly installed autocad, and solidworks. this laptop will run cad software flawlessly. it is very quick compared to my netbook that was stolen.... battery life is great.
Summary: Was skeptical of this at first because all I've had in the past were Sony Vaios, but I have to say this Acer has blown away my expectations and then some! Awesome laptop/netbook for the money! Battery life is fantastic and the processor combined with the RAM makes it really quick. At first I was looking at getting a netbook because I wanted the small form factor but they were just too slow.
