Review Acer Aspire 1830T Subnotebook

Notebookcheck
26 July 2010
  • Summary: Energy Drink. Peeved because your netbook is too slow? Acer has the solution: Simply take Core i5! Small 12 inch size, less than 1.4 kilograms and five hour mobility. We'll demonstrate the abilities of the smallest Timeline X for 800 euro.
  • Pros: Low weight of 1.36 kg, Good performance, Good battery life, Low power consumption, Low system noise, SPDIF-out, Good subnotebook performance in a small size at an attractive price. There aren't any similarly strong 11.6 inchers for less than 800 euro.
  • Cons: Display not AR coated, Treble-prone sound, Good input devices and an AR coated display would have made the consumer 1830T to an inexpensive alternative in comparison to pro-subnotebooks, like the HP EliteBook 2540p (1500 euro).

Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T

MobileTechReview.com
17 January 2010
  • Conclusion: The Acer TimelineX 1830T is our top pick among subnotebooks. It doesn't compromise power or battery life and it has a good set of ports that outnumber the competition. We're impressed with the specs on the 1830T, and they beat out the competition in features vs. price.
  • Pros: Extremely portable yet powerful, excellent battery life., A very fast 11.6" notebook, one of the fastest currently on the market. Attractive, light and fairly thin. Very good battery life, runs cool, quiet fan. Plenty of ports including HDMI. Large capacity hard drive is standard on the Core i5 a...
  • Cons: Not cheap, tiny trackpad., Acer's flat keyboard may not suit those who favor island style keyboards, trackpad is small and it's easy to wander off its edges.

  • Excerpt: Acer's TimelineX series has impressed us since its launch two years ago. The new 1830T is the smallest in the range, with an 11.6in display, but it includes some technologies that you'd expect to see on larger and more expensive laptops, such as an Intel Core i3 processor, a 640GB hard disk and an...
