Great product that breaks a lot

Summary: I was initially pleased when my acer arrived. It had all the specs I was looking for and was lightweight for its class. Within the first week though, it began to turn off spontaneously, over and over again. I had to send it for maintenance, and then reinstall all the things I'd put on it. It was weeks or months before I could actually use my laptop. Then, when it was not quite a year old, the power port broke down, and my computer suddenly would not charge.
Summary: I purchased this computer a year ago, based on positive CNet reviews. The advantage is that it's fairly light, and the optics are decent for this price point. The major disadvantage, though, is that I went through three hard drives since I first purchased it! The first two were corrupt; the third drive is about 3 months old, so I'm crossing my fingers that it will last awhile. Aside from this glitch and the associated hassle, it's a decent little machine.
Summary: This laptop is low light and so quick to boot up, has plenty of operating speed for anything we need it for, and quite a bit of battery life. We specifically wanted this one over the touch screen version, but not sure if it's even an option anymore?
Very speedy and quite good for gaming; updating to Windows 8 isn't terribly smooth.

Summary: A very fantastic little computer. I can't tell if Acer is discontinuing this one or what; they seem to be unavailable in many places now. It's sad really; it's a great laptop. Doesn't weigh too much, fits in a messenger bag smoothly, and it can play just about any game I've thrown at it (Deus Ex: HR, Portal 2, Saints Row the Third was a little laggy, but definitely playable; I haven't tried something like Arkham City on it, though I'm confident it would be playable on...
Summary: Bought this for use in college and works well. Did not experience problems with heat as described elsewhere. Does not use for gaming but regular use for music, internet, etc. Light but seems sturdily built. Good value for money.
