Newegg ships Dell instead of Acer S7

WESLEY V., Newegg
26 April 2015
  • Pros: Nada.
  • Cons: My four year old Asus ROG laptop screen was having issues and I knew it would fail soon. It's on 12+ hours a day. I went on Newegg looking for something to get quickly with great specs. I don't have a lot of money, so I used my debit card to buy this Aspire S7. Newegg sent me some junky Dell 3450...

Not happy

Maria H., Newegg
17 November 2014
  • Pros: It's a beautiful laptop and very lightweight.
  • Cons: I am super frustrated this machine did not come with the lastest software updates. Had to update Windows Update. Now it's telling me I have to update 100+ updates before I can update to 8.1. My C key keeps sticking too. Have to keep hitting the key several times before it types the letter.

Light and fast

Anne I., Newegg
21 October 2014
  • Pros: Weighs nothing. Is really fast. Clear screen.
  • Cons: Windows 8!! Only reason I didn't give it 5 eggs is because I can't stand Windows 8 and that's what it comes with.

Attractive design but not responsive enough

MitzvahMaker, CNET
7 October 2014
  • Summary: The low profile keyboard is another pain to work with unless you're sitting at a desk in a perfect posture position. Otherwise expect plenty of typos.
  • Pros: Hi res screen is quite nice.
  • Cons: The track pad is not responive and neither is the touch screen. Makes for slow work to pinpoint the cursor to the exact centimeter to function.

Solid ultrabook

Will R., Newegg
6 January 2014
  • Summary: Probably the best Haswell ultrabook on the market in this price range right now
  • Pros: Great battery life (8 hours consistently) Fast (runs Path of Exile quite well; I also run Windows plus a Linux VM all the time with no issues) Tiny and lightweight Great display Backlit keyboard Comes with a Mini-DisplayPort adapter (I think) for Ethernet connectivity and additional USB ports
  • Cons: No serious cons, but here are some concerns: Comes with Windows 8.0 out of the box instead of 8.1. I haven't upgraded to 8.1 yet as ultrabooks are notorious for losing functionality in the upgrade (function keys stop working, driver issues, etc.) No option to enable Intel VT-x in the BIOS, even a...

Emery T., Newegg
6 October 2013
  • Summary: Look else where if you do any multitasking at all, you can find systems with better performance for less money.
  • Pros: Other than it being small I don't have much to say that's positive.
  • Cons: The first things that detracts me from this computer was the awkwardness of Windows 8, this is my first and last system with Windows 8. Once you look beyond the pans of Windows 8 you'll notice how slow this system is, especially for a i5 processor. My previous system was a Atom processor with 1gb...

Great Laptop

Austin E., Newegg
9 September 2013
  • Pros: Gorgeous screen. Great keyboard.
  • Cons: None really. The resolution was so small I had to turn it down. have not had to say that about a laptop in a while.
