Touch Pad Is Very Exasperaring

James Lange, Amazon
5 March 2014
  • Summary: This notebook is sooo annoying. The touch pad seems to have a mind of its own. It works OK for a few minutes after start-up, but quickly becomes "cranky" & jumpy. It is very annoying to work with for very long.

Works well for warranted period

Susan, Amazon
9 December 2013
  • Summary: Have had this for just over a year and the touchpad and keyboard have gone wacky. I contacted Acer and as it is now out of warranty would be a minimum $250.00 charge. I called a local computer repair place who basically said to try to get my with using a mouse as it was not worth the cost to repair.

Bad Power Cord Set Up

EricaM121, Amazon
16 August 2013
  • Summary: I really do love a lot about this computer. Well, I did- until the cord got pulled out of the laptop, as they do sometimes and the pin within the computer became loose. I didn't realize immediately that the pin was loose, and continued plugging in my computer as usual until it just shut down one day...

Very fast until it failed and slowly coming undone

Michael L, Amazon
20 May 2013
  • Summary: This was my first laptop with a SSD and it was lightning fast on startup and just about everything it did. I have used this computer for three months. I did have more than occassional system lockups that forced a hard shutdown by holding down the power button.

Worked OK but broke

Ira Hart, Amazon
14 March 2013
  • Summary: This worked for about a week and the video on the screen started to lose lines. They would come back if you squeezed the right side of the display. I squeezed too hard and the display cracked. The engineering is marginal.

Ended up Sending it back

Jonathan, Amazon
26 November 2012
  • Summary: While I think the size of this laptop is great, its build quality wasn't the best. Throw in the moving connector dock made for a awkward experience. I had it for a couple days and did a couple windows updates on it and it would no longer turn on.

DO NOT BUY

amazoneverything, Amazon
17 September 2012
  • Summary: This was my fourth attempt at an ultrabook. Others included Dell, Panasonic, Sony. Yes, the computer functions fast however for the business user, reliability is a major issue. Constant fan running with simple tasks.. outlook and itunes open... the input door is super chintzy.

Fast but not perfect

G. Innes, Amazon
25 November 2013
  • Summary: First of all do not pay £1,199.99 for this laptop as I bought it earlier in the year for £600. Here are my thoughts. Over all nice laptop - does the job. Pros: SSD and high spec mean it is blisteringly fast. Very impressive performance. Boot time is about 3 seconds.

Ultra disappointed

Sly 1, Amazon
18 May 2013
  • Summary: Very disappointed in the S5:- It runs loudly and too hot Battery life is a maximum of 3 hours having followed instructions to the letter, my old netbook manages that. Keeps freezing and the only way to overcome that is to let the battery run right down until cut off.
